We've had several more inches with more coming through 1 am tonight. Wind is blowing hard. I brought lots of wood from the woodpile yesterday and stacked it close yesterday. I'm having to find the wood in the snow, but I'm bringing it indoors coated with wood and letting it dry off before the stove. I bring it in by the wheelbarrow, so I don't have to go out more than twice daily. The extra moisture in here from all that snow covered wood is appreciated by me. Temps to be zero at 10 pm on down to a low of around -15 by morning. Wind will continue, so I'll have my stove going full blast along with the furnace switched on...I'm on natural gas so it's not expensive. Thing should settle down mid week hopefully. This is a ba## buster storm for sure.
I think the snow caked up against the building and windows is helping insulate. The wind does draw heat out. I'm burning some smaller diameter logs under 6 inch diameter. Next year, I'll either split these or use the saw to cut them really short so they will season better. I ran out of time before.
One heck of a winter for sure. While we have been in it for a couple weeks, it seems like it has been winter for a lot longer than that. Be careful cleaning up that storm. Those extreme low temps are deceiving and can really harm you. Five minute exposure on you face can be frostbite.
We're s supposed to get a glancing blow from that system here overnight. Then the temps fall off the chart for 24-36hrs. Stay warm guys!!
We are at 9" and it's coming down hard right now. Temps are still warmer but by morning it's gonna be colder. Should be a fun drive to work.. On the bright side the shed is still standing so I did something right.
I was SUPPOSED to hit here earlier as freezing rain (crazy because we had a low of 3 degrees last night), starting to drizzle here right now, I hope it transitions to snow quickly because I want to play on the snowmobile a little soon.....
Plenty of snow here Scott! Snowmobiles ride around the bogs all the time here.. We got over a foot on the last storm..
I may have to come up there sometime Ray and hang out for the weekend......I could always sleep in the woodshed!!
We have snowmobiles going up and down the roads right now! It's still coming down pretty good too so this should be fun with my 86 k1500 in the morning. Maybe I can off road and scare the wife ( I wouldn't do that would I? )
She is doing very well thanks for asking! She is walking and back to work although she still has a lot of pain she is healing fast. The good lord willing by the time we go to the GTG we can have her on a misery whip. She said no way but I say shoot for the sky!
