Yep, I was going to say "taxachusetts" too. Dealt that moniker, your taxes are pretty low, compared to what I see.

My taxes are pretty level, but way high for what other states have. So they better not raise from where they are at. Wisconsin is one of the highest taxed states.

Doug, your taxes are up to where mine have been for the last 7 years since we bought this house.

We have to pay for Catholic school. So, at $5,000 annually for taxes, I wouldn't want any increase that large percentage wise. Some towns nearby have really good schools, but the taxes are more. So...I'm ok with the taxes given that I want to use private school. $10,000 a year would be too much...especially if retirement is on the horizon.

The tax situation is getting way way way out of hand. My real estate tax went up 31% after this last assessment in 2015, but it took a similar jump back in 2010. The assessed value of my property went up 19%.

My electric bill, well, they keep putting in little subtle raises in the guise of surcharges. Every time I notice, I find other ways to cut my energy consumption keeping my bill within the $40 range +/- 3

Wow! that's crazy. We live in a disorganized (unorganized) township and pay $600/yr and the 'federales' leave us alone. Plus, healthcare paid for in our taxes. Canada ain't so bad after all. God save the Queen! lol

Lets all move to Northern Minnesota. With taxes like that, it might even be worthwhile. But the winters are wicked there, at least during a normal winter.

6000 dollars here for a 1500 square foot ranch on .66 acres. I don't even have kids to utilize the school system. At least they pick up the garbage. Horrible isn't it?

That'd be OK if your wages went up at least that much... I think I know the answer to that though as I know mine have only gone up by leaving companies... I want to stay, but you can't pay... Sad state of reality.

Alaska's new Democrat governor, with oil prices so low, is
planning on creating a state income tax , double gasoline tax & wants a state sales tax.

Nothing mentioned about reducing the size of government or reducing the budget or living within your means.

Those that voted him in, are all upset now because he's after the Alaska Permanent fund too. (free money to residents)
I say take it all & no new taxes.

Some how a Democrat got elected here, maybe due to a low turn out. Now we all pay $$$

Pretty soon they'll be taxing our firewood :bug:

My taxes are about the same as Doug MacIVER. I for sure will be leaving NJ the day I retire. Don't know where but it won't be here.

Doesn't VT have the school tax leveled across the state so those towns with higher value property pick up the load for the towns with no tax base. Live in town with higher real estate values and you get screwed.

We wouldn't have our camp/land in VT if it weren't for current use. $3/acre is doable. No way could you pay taxes on land at a rate that is about 100 times greater than what the trees can produce from logging.

Sorry, I was wrong. Mine are 3200 a year, not 2600.... 1600 sq ft ranch, 1 acre no city water, no city sewer. Septic system and well.

Y'all see why I don't have that new ms661, right?

After seeing some of these numbers, I will never complain about MI property taxes again.

Ours is $1K/year, 1 acre-no water ( or fire hydrants), no gas, no sewer, no trash, dirt road with public access but no city/county maintenance, no services what soever....... Our previous home was the same except it had water.... was $3K, per year- 2 acre. Very interesting. I also want to add to this rant that we do not qualify for obamacare subsidies though he promised them for certain income levels.

wildwest , you have to make a very good amount of $ not to be eligible for subsidies of some sort. I make good money and still was eligible for enough of a discount to beat the insurance my company offers.

That may vary state by state to a certain extent though....

Not sure how, but it is different here, we do not make a bunch of money. Wyoming now has one insurance carrier instead of two. What a crock!!

That has to be out. There's plenty of options here. Did you look on the marketplace?

the northeast in general has high taxes. to be fair they cover all muni costs, school, fire, pd, highway. muni costs down the road will be crazy, especially in lrg. cities. always a raise for employees and full coverage of benefits no matter how much they go up. private sector has to continually pass some cost increases to the employee to remain competitive.

waste, I go back to salting and plowing the slush the other day. main rds. ok, residential rds?????? you got to be gnittihs me, end of last winter they hardly touched their equipment. left the roads snow and ice covered.

h2o is another separate bill and a pain in the butt.$300-400/year.

don't care how much one has prepared for semi or full retirement increases such as those get your attention. one thing for sure those tax bills won't ever head in a southern direction. they will only head up.
