Have ya split a round yet? Osage(Hedge) is almost 'highlighter' yellow bright. Looks awful Hedgey to me- which doesn't get much gooder than THAT!
They look pretty big and straight for mulberry. Around here mulberry gets storm damage or grow really wide and branched in fence rows.
Carefull, it burns hot. My grandpa always warned me not to put more than a split or two of locust in the stove at a time. Its one of the only things ive seen burn and make heat when green in a campfire.
He stopped burning in the late 70's, dry locust in a smoke dragon can make it glow cherry red if not carefull.
Anything can make it glow cherry red if not careful. I've run about 20 cord of the stuff through my stove and it has yet to emit anything but heat.
I'm concurring with the black locust. Split it once, it should kinda smell like pimentoed olives..... It could POSSIBLY be mulberry, which is still a good wood. It makes a lot of sparks and crackles.....and mulberry is good for cooking over! Smells kinda like cotton candy when burning!!
