I don't mean to sidetrack your thread, but . . . a 50" bar in 3003 Stihl mount! What in the wide world of sports?!?!?!?!
It works pretty good with a modded oiler. I've run one some myself. A 394/5 will pull it a little better than a 660 does. Never got to try it on a 661. I have a 36" for big stihl along with a 21" if you're interested in either sizes Shawn. 3/8" on the 36" and 404 on the 21". I have a few chains for the 21". Might have one or 2 loops for the 36".
That 20" husky is a large mount, wasn't that the trade we did? Came off a husky 61. Ugly but works just fine. Thought you were going to buy a saw for it? Lol Hope life's treating you good Shawn!
Okay, so I get the "I tried it once", but what purpose would be served by at 50" bar on a standard mount Stihl chainsaw? I'm not trying to discredit what he's selling, but rather just trying to wrap my mind around why it even exists???
I'm no expert, but you should be able to mill the groove to fit your 880. Only question would be if the oiler lines up. If not, my bad, but... that has to be WAY!!!! cheaper than replacing the bar and chains.
I bet that my MMWS ported MS461 with high-output modified oiler would pull a full-skip chain on that 50" bar. It would probably need an auxiliary oiler. That said, this would be a highly less than ideal set up.
I planned to use it for milling with an aux oiler bottle. You can't use the entire length in a granberg mill, you need a little extra bar to clamp the mill onto. The ported 660 would definitely pull it, but it sure can't oil it, hence the aux oiler. That's probably the only practical use for such a bar on the east coast anyway. Ideal, no. But you try to think of ways to get the job done when you've got a 4' walnut you'd like to get some lumber out of.
Bucking real big stuff that is on less than ideal places. The oiler will keep up for a cut or so. Just have to pizz rev it a few times to get oil flowing good before it's buried. The fallers in southeast Alaska use 42-50" all the time on 660s and 390s. They don't want to pack around a 880 or 3120 for a few trees.
Thanks guys. I decided to keep the Cannon for now so everything else is sold except for the large mount 20" husky setup. I'd still like to free up that peg, so the new price for these items is "free" to the first FHC'er who wants to cover the actual shipping.
That bar/chains would be a perfect firewood setup on a 372xp or comparable, can't believe it hasn't sold. It's a husky branded pro bar with replaceable tip, in case no one noticed!! It's comparable to a stihl es bar, just not as nice of a finish.
