Same here. What irritates me is that the batteries are not interchangable from brand to brand. I was eyeing some reciprocating saws at HD and Lowes that were "tool only" but they were not Dewalt like my drill

BUT, I did get teresa a Dewalt Bluetooth speaker for Christmas this year that uses the same batteries as my drill for when she is working in yard . She loves it and there is no chance that the kids will permanently "borrow" it since its not cool enough for them (all part of the plan when I bought it) :D

The little "Hamster ball" is well built in the "Tridion cell" and then the thing only weighs 1800 pounds.

The cage will hold and the little dude just bounces out of the way.

It's gonna spoil it for sure, but the passengers will do well. (Likely need a change of shorts)

Crash tests with the Smart into a solid concrete barrier at 70 mph and the cockpit was fully intact.

Sadly people don't handle 70-0 in zip point squat well.

Ahhh well, these little critters are not for everyone.

We had a Cruse from a rental a few weeks ago and it was OK but very hard for me to fold my stiff hurting 6 foot frame into.

A friend of mine has the Cruse diesel and loves it.

The door opening on the Smart is much higher at the top front and gives me waaaaay more room than most small rigs.

3 sacks of pellets behind the seats.

    Here is our "Widdle dude"

    It has all the options
    Power steering
    AC
    Pwr windows
    Auto door locks
    Cruise
    Heated leather seats
    Navi system
    Surround sound AM/FM CD player
    Auto headlights and wipers
    Day time running led lamps
    Alloy wheels
    Rear window wiper
Solid moon roof with interior slider cover screen.

I have yet to want anything that it does not have.
Little 1 L 3 cyl engine is plenty to giddyupgo and will run at 70 MPH all day long.

Gear box is a 5 speed computer operated stick shift with manual option (Don't get me started on the computer rant)

Thanks G, Yes, the savings are considerable, we've been doing that for both -ladies- (almost said girls, sigh.) since they started College.

It's not just the books (and weight of lugging them around), as explained to me because she's in the Honors program, her coursework requires a lot of article citations, which can be emailed to the professors teaching the class, so it would be a double-win for her using the Kindle, to do that work electronically also.

(I should have bought stock in HP, Lord knows I give them enough $$$ buying printer cartridges each semester.)

She has an older (original) Kindle Fire that she won as part of a Poetry contest from High School years ago, but it is 'ancient technology' vs. the models out now, plus the battery in her Kindle is getting tired - after 6 years it's getting done. But she's been trying to 'tweak' it, setting it up to use Google Docs, etc. to see if it's a suitable laptop adjunct / replacement, so far, so good.

I have full confidence she will do the needed research & make the right decision on this one.

Very true...maybe they really are that safe. There is a saying of "contempt prior to investigation" that will keep one in everlasting ignorance.

I would still stay clear of any T-rex in it....just sayin

I have several of the ONE+ tools.
Mine was purchased before the lithium batteries came out, so when my NI CAD'S died I tossed them and the old charger and bought the lithium set up.

I also have some Ridgid tools as well.

The 18 volt units are soooooo handy for those projects where ya don't want to string in 120V cord

So this is an alternatively powered vehicle? Runs on pellets or shells? I bet it costs peanuts to run.

I have been following these types of vehicles. The plan is to have a very fuel efficient vehicle for those nonsensical rides we need to make for supplies etc. while keeping the old farm truck running. I've been restoring my 1995 P/U and last month I had a replacement frame sent from from Oklahoma (no salt state). The body is in great shape with no penetrating rust, I get compliments on it all the time. You just don't see twenty year old vehicle up here without body rusted panels. The frame has taken the worst of it. It finally showed a hole this year and before it gets bigger, I'm going to swap it out. My other truck had lasted 270,000 before the rust took the frame and the body enough that I began looking for a replacement truck ( the current vehicle).

Anyway, my concern was fitting a 6'4" gorilla in it. The wife wanted a Honda CRV , however I had to sit with my head flopped over on my shoulder, so it was a no go. The sales person suggested the funky looking Element. I sat in it and... Wow there's head room enough for a stetson hat. The two Honda's are 39 and 43 inch headroom, and I know that sitting in them there was more of a difference then the spec's suggest.

Since there are no Smart dealers any where near by it'll be a while before we can see if I even fit.

    edit...loaded the wrong photo

    Yup

We even looked at the electric Smart.

    Ahhhhh, nooooooooooooooo
The 75 mile range before needing to plug it in was a deal breaker.

We are very spontaneous folks and get a bug in our butt to go and do.

Heck, here earlier this fall we jumped in the Smart and hauled tail up to Seattle to look at an Army 6x6 off Craigs list.

We run the wheels of that little hamster.
