Be careful folks. The flu going around this year is a mutated version of the 2009 H1n1 pandemic swine flu, but now its on steroids. It's becoming resistant to Tamiflu and its killing a lot of young and middle aged people.

We lost my cousin's husband to that one. Lived up in Washington state. Was a good man, worked hard and cared for his family. I found a video of the news report.

I'm really concerned about this currently circulating strain of H1n1. When the pandemic hit in 2009 everyone was worried because it was so similar to the H1n1 Swine flu that killed tens of millions in the global Spanish flu pandemic of 1918. Fortunately the H1N1 strain of 2009 generally didn't have some of the minor genetic mutations that would cause a similarly deadly global pandemic as 1918 like targeting the cells deep in the lungs.

Unfortunately early indications this year are that it has picked up some of those missing mutations and it's going to be a very deadly flu season for the young and middle aged.

After clearing trail today, we pushed in some Cherry, we have two racks of the good stuff we can throw at this next Artic Cold Wave.

The coldest temp with the wind chill should be -23.

I was laying on the floor in the living room half amused at the irony of my situation. I have been after my wife for the past few years to let me cancel the satellite tv. Finally got her blessing and turned it off a week ago and ever since then I have been laid up with my back killing me. Spent the afternoon laying on the floor in the living room staring at the ceiling bored out of my mind....... She reminded me every time she walked by that I was the one who wanted to get rid of the tv......

Staring to get a bit worried about it at this point. I usually can recover in a few days but this time it's not working. It hasn't gotten any worse but it's not getting any better either. Within 5 minutes of being up and walking around the right side is spasming and so tight you can feel the muscle bulging out.
