They say 2 degrees outside on the weather channel. Yesterday's truck never broke the minus mark. Cold, foggy and the roads are icy.. Leaving to go to nieces wedding today. Stove will be cold. NG for today.
14 this morning. Brrrr. Snow, looks like maybe 3 or 4 inches from in this toasty house. Ash and Pine gasifying.
It's 21 degrees here today, the house is 70. I'm burning down the coals in the Liberty so I can take the ashes out so the Pellet Stove is still going.
Temps gone from 14 to 22... hail bouncing off windows.... Snow at least 5 inches deep on the dog.. 80 in stove room
20 degrees down here in the south. Same hail, only 3-4" accumulation. The cows look stunned. Town plowed the driveway for the first time this season (they sanded a few roads once, a week or two ago).
It was a sheet of ice around midnight last night, but with this storm pockets of warm air melted things and went above freezing this morning. Heavy rain, loaded the stove with hickory and hard maple.
The last 3 days, the forecast held steady that we'd get 2-4" from this little storm. I'm thinkin'......ok, no problem. I gotta' quit thinkin' and relying on In-Accuweather. We ended up with somewhere around 8-9". Where's FEMA? Never did get any of the ice/sleet though, so that's gooder. House was just under 70 this morning with an OAT of 31. I pulled up the coals, laid a chunk of what I think was Ash on, and let that run for a couple hours to keep the temp up. It was still burning, but I added a couple medium splits of Maple a couple hours later, and now, about 5.5 hours later, we're still at 72 in the house. OAT has dropped to about 26. I still have 1/3 cord of Red Maple I'm messing with and using almost exclusively with a slight bit of Oak and Ash thrown in.
I hooked up the plow to the Rhino to do some areas that are easier to do with the Rhino, everything is soaked but most of the plowing is done.
I had to stop and scrap three times so I could see, freezing rain today with wet heavy snow overnight. I better get about 4 bags of sand for the back of Ford S/D 250 so I can push the wet heavy chit further into the woods.
I hear ya. Once this cold stays-may get nailed weekly with heavy chit. Stayed in the mid 30's here all day. Future forecast for snow late next week, we'll see.....
They're calling for another 3-7 tonight, anything over three inches we'll take the sleds out on our property just to pack down the trails.
Ended up with enough snow overnight and throughout the day to be called "dusting" almost. Didn't get a thing of what they were banging the storm warning drum about. I bet heads are gonna roll for them being wrong!
Not much like winter here...46 degrees outside, 72 inside. Burning a little cherry to take the chill off
22 here with Ash and some Red Pine keeping us cozy. Snow has stopped all together since about 5:30 or so.
