artc has them and said they ain't half bad. He's got them for the same price as CTpellet IIRC. I was going to go meet him as he offered to stash a couple away for me. But between feeling like doodoo and being lazy as a turtle. I probably won't take the 30 plus mile ride for a while. Maybe later in the spring??

I burned some Still River pellets which I believe are the same pellets. They were not bad. Local shop has the Blackstone for $240 IIRC.

Think my brother grabbed a few bags of FSU's. Told him they should be as good as his stove chow.

The lowes stores around here have been charging $350 for GT and $300 for everything else (including GS) for some time now. Just checked and they are still holding at those prices.

I'll burn oil before I spend 350 on pellets.

Burning through some Lignetics right now and have to say these are the "cream of the crop" for local TSC offerings this year, really liking them a lot.

HD in Concord, NH is still holding FSU's at $5.18/bag. If you pay by HD credit card and ask for your 5% discount, they are under $5/bag. They run well in both stoves although I don't think they are quite as hot as the Presto Logs I got in the fall and have just started running in the P43. The FSU's are a bit less ash though and they mix well with the cr*ppy pellets I have running in the P61a so I'll keep picking up 6-10 bags every couple of weeks.

    What's the issue?

I know in the previous Hastings and currently in the P61a, the FSU's do soot up the door glass pretty quick, and it's a black soot. Curiously, the P43 doesn't have this issue (and yes, I replaced door gaskets in both the stoves that had the black soot issue). Other pellets didn't do that to any of my stoves. I can live with the glass being dirty since the FSU's burn hotter and with less ash than most pellets I burn. Not saying they are great pellets (certainly not in the class of Vermonts), but for the price, and what I am used to burning (Currans, NEWPS, ThermaGlows), they are decent.

I had similar issues with FSUs last season. First batch was brutal, second batch was fantastic. They were like two completely different products.

I haven't had issues with clinkers, even with the previous Hastings - but can relate with the blackened chamber. At first it bothered me, but the black isn't thick, ash is not too bad (better than most of what I run) and good heat. Don't know why the P43 doesn't blacken the window (although the chamber does get black). Well, if they don't work to your satisfaction, then I can see why you go elsewhere - especially from what your list of what is in your stash shows!
