Rough night....... drove a backway home tonight because of an accident backing up traffic. Its dark, I drive past a lake with some nasty mud holes trails all over. A couple of teens were yelling "hey, hey!" I pull over and they explained their p/u was stuck deep in mud and the rear end was inches from rolling into the lake. I said, alright, ill pull down the trail and see if I can yank ya out. Well I had to back in, probably 150 yards, negotiate some nasty mud holes in a 9000 +lb Ford F 250, I knew the costs going in, but this area was not traveled by many cars, so I figured I could lend a hand. Nope! My big azz truck slid sideways right at the bank of the lake, a tree stopping me, no damage. Well this aint good. Next thing I know im calling different buddies, and they are preparing to make a fun night outta this. I phoned Dawn as well to give her a heads up, and she already had her jeep people in route. They showed up, I got yanked out pretty quick, but the other teens were in deep trouble. It took nearly 2 hours to get them out. Jeep, winch, etc. Even the jacked up jeep almost lost it down the hill to the lake from all this rain and mud. Finally everyone was out, safe, damaged chevy, but a fun experience. Makes me wanna go get a jeep again, wish I never sold mine!
Pretty bad pics, but I had to snap a couple at least. Teens truck in the muck. The dark abyss to the right is the lake.
Umm yeah. That sounds like some sort of fun. You're a good man. Hopefully those kids learned a good lesson.
You did a gooder deed tonight, Well Seasoned Glad ya got pics- would have been a long shot story without 'em Good heart, bud!
Well, glad it all worked out. Hills plus mud equals Gravity wins most always... Glad you had some buddies with winches best and safest method.... Any pucker factor?
Yea, as soon as I read he headed down the trail in a 3/4 ton... I was puckering.... Horkn .... Teens and a 4 wheel drive.... I'm sure they learned something... Jeeps are awesome and it helps to just find a guy that was traveling down the road that had connections.
It was a good time AFTER I got yanked out. Somehow I had no damage, and was against a 6" tree, that was hung up on my step ups. Sliding into the lake would have sucked big time. I wont post the picture the teens drew on his buddy's hood after the fact, uh'hem ya know a male pheasant..........lol
Been there, pucker is in full effect. I had a Toyota HiLux (yea, old) stock on the ice on the edge of a snow drift in a corn field once, we were cutting across an unfamiliar property between two friends farms. (Without permission. ..) it were stuck bad. Nothing more humiliating than asking permission to get your truck with your dad's tractor, and being told no. The man made me wait two weeks, lesson learned. Never did the field hopping thing again.
I would've helped too, Well Seasoned style, but sans group of winchin buddies and probably would've ended up putting my ride in the Drink
I carry a good tow rope in my truck, '01 dodge 2500 w/ Cummins, you don't think its for pulling myself out right.
