Sheesh! That would be a good size for someone that wanted an indoor stove but all their wood was cut for a OWB!
These stoves were mostly for LARGE areas such as restraunts, lobbies, ski resorts and any open areas. They were by order only and would easly heat over 3000 sqft. It's not the stove for you 1500 sqft rancher... It'll blow you out! also they had a 10" flue, not very standard. In their day, they were a show piece and if your a Fisher fan, they are like finding the "Holy grail" to a degree. . The "ONLY" way I would use this stove is if I build a very large open floor plan home, then I only would consider using it. I have other Fishers that would still do the job. Sadly, many of these old Fishers are now beer cans and toyota's. I'm just trying to save a few for future generations. There are a few more folks out there who see the value of these and are doing what I'm doing. If you heat with a Fisher, once you learn it and get it dialed in, you'll never go to anything else
I'll need to keep my feelers on the lookout in the PNW for a Fisher XL. I can't tell from these pics but this one looks odd?
Not sure what to make of that one pic? Is it welded together? It looks like a Grandpa as far as I can tell...
Looks like someone was doing some type of repair? On the XL, are all the flues 10" and do they all exit from the back? Thanks
Yes, as far as I know! All the information I have gotten notes that everyone had a 10" flue. Not all of them exit from the back. The one I'm getting has a top exit. It depended upon the order and how it was going to be configured and installed. "honestly" I'm still not up to complete speed with the XL's, But I have a "awesome" resource who is nearly in the Fisher family and knows some of the ex-builders! As far as I know, there were about 3 different configurations of the XL, "any" of them are RARE!
8 hours of travel today… It's here! The "MAC DADDY" of all OZ! And my back will feel this tomorrow. I'm getting a Beer, pain pill, and stare at it!
My "GOD" was that thing heavy!!! It's such a shame it sat outside for a year… But it's completely fixable
That sir is sweeeeet!!!! You scored BIG! Ill bet it will clean up great brother... Where do you plan to use it at?
Thanks Girl friend, "not you Pete"…. Anyway, first question, In the near future I plan on building an open floor plan home, long with a large living room, off set kitchen and dining area! That stove will be my "Show piece" some day! It took me "Years" to find one. I just got off the phone with our friend Coaly, You know who he is.. He congratulated me on the find, between him and I we only know of 8 or 10 in existence I think Bushman on here knows where there is one also! I hope someday he can grab it! There like finding a intact dinosaur
im to scruffy and messy to be a girlfriend I miss coaly... That will make one heck of a nice show piece. Will it get used or for looks? Where is the other located roughly I'd go grab it for you if it was on the way to you and meet up in the middle...
Both, It will be fully functional when I'm done with it! I'm gonna spend "hours" on this one!!! I gotta pull out Grandma and give her a new dress and fresh coat of bricks this summer. When I do, I'm gonna work on the XL also. Grandma has been there since about 1980! I have to take care of her. I now have 7 Fishers, 2 more to go and I'll have them all Oh, for the record… He does come over here and look. He does miss many of us. It's a conflict of interest as you know for him, "you know his position" and I can't blame him… I also miss him, but we are in touch
Well its not a divorce yet so keep going! The pics should be good on the xl.. You are gonna need an engine crane to move it around! Yup I know why.. I was having a moment
