I got the sense that he didn't want to spend anymore money then he had to, on a smaller saw! He kinda a took a bath on the 461 (I didn't beat him over the head or nothing) and from talking to him I just dont think he wanted to drop $550-650 on a small pro saw. Sides it could have been worse he could have got a ms170 or ms180
Lil more junk in the trunk,, (I use that term loosely) today's find Spotted it on Craigslist last night, messaged the guy asked a few questions, then talked to him on the phone for a bit and he said if I was serious about it he would pull the ad so other people would quit texting him. I told yes I am serious and as long as, it is what you say it is, I will buy it. Setup a time to meet this morning, pulled the muffler cover, all was good, piston looks new. He even brought a snap-on compression tester in case I wanted to test it, I told him I didn't see the need, because the piston looked so nice! It's darn nice saw, 460R, 32" bar, 5 extra chains, tool kit, full gallon of bar oil, some 20" oregon (dont think it's for a stihl) bar & chain still new in the packaging. As a bonus he said since I was buying his saw, he was not going to need his 48" Stihl cant hook anymore He bought it new at Madens in Centralia WA shortly before moving to CO. He said he has only ran Stihl Motomix in it, and maybe 12-14 cans total. I'm happy, but I really need to stop looking on Craigslist!!!
Yeah I have a "few" most of them being 1128's Seems that's about what I've fallen head over heels for....when I find one that I think is a decent deal, I just cant bring myself to say NO I'm going to do my savings account a favor and stop looking on Craigslist, eBay, and the Trading Post!! I have enough saws, need to get back to cutting and enjoying them, no more saws
But remeber, they are an investment. You may not get every penny out of them, but it's not like a Big Mac that you'll chit out and never get anything but heart burn out of!!
Good point, I have not thought of it like that,,,, yet I will keep that in mind. I think I made a good buy on the 461 yesterday & the 460 today, lets just say if I listed them for sale in the classifieds (for what I paid for them) I dont think they would make it a day before being sold!
Not this time. But I got to play, cherry pick the wood I wanted, and they take care of the mess. They will be bulldozing this area come spring anyways.
Well ability to cherry pick and be a wood snob and not have to clean the mess and be able to drive right to it is worth it!
