Anyone got one? Fondled one today and it fit my (large) hand very well...much better than a G26 or Sheild.

I know nothing about Springfield...do they make good stuff?

They do. My buddy the firearm instructor carries one as his primary, but I had trouble operating the slide with my off hand (I'm a lefty) and I found the Walther CCP to be a lot more feasible for myself.

I didn't like the mag release on the CCP. Other than that it did feel good in the hand.

What didn't you like about it? It's in the perfect position for a lefty to reach around and hit it, better than other models I tried. Might just match my hand size well.

Just felt funky. I'm sure it's fine for some but I didn't care for it.

I hear ya. I had the same feeling with quite a few guns. When I held that CCP it felt like it was made for me-- glad it wasn't more expensive because I would have bought it for almost any price! Sometimes one just speaks to you, that's why they make more than one gun.

lukem, I carry an XD45 4" with Meprolight night sights. an XDS is on my list. I have NEVER had any feeding issues with my XD and i shoot it in "run and gun" USPSA matches. It has well over 5000 rounds through it and still just dependable. Springfield makes REALLY good stuff.

I initially chose the XD for the grip angle, same as a 1911 and the ruger MKII 22/45 i grew up shooting, Glocks just dont point right for me and the pressure from the trigger samefty on the Glocks wears a hole in my calloused finger. The XD has the trigger safety but WAY less pressure required to engage it.

    Its good chit.

Thanks. I only know what I've shot when it comes to the short guns. This one seems to be calling my name.

There was a recall on the xds 9 and 45, so if you are looking at used, make sure it's been back to the factory!

Also, have you coonfingered the g43? Its a nice alternative to consider.

XDS is awesome for a carry gun in 45. We have one and the grip angle is comfortable to put 3-500 rounds through it in one outing.

I'm leaning toward a 9mm. I know that's a whole nother debate but I like the way they shoot and ammo is cheap.

Buy that for fun, but a 9mm is a negligent firearm for carry. Collateral damage (overpenetration) even with defensive ammo is unavoidable.

The g43... Well, I was expecting more I guess. It just didn't do it for me.

My daughter has an Xds in 45. I have put close to 100 through it. For a small pistol in 45 it is a very soft shooter. It cycled very thing from 200-230gr. Springfield makes reliable guns.

As for the 9mm vs 40 vs 45 debate, it kind of like ford vs dodge vs Chevy we all have our favorites. I'm in the 9mm camp.

The xd's are great guns. Probably the best out there for full size, but I'm not familiar with the xd's. If it's anything like the big xd's, it'll be a great gun.
