Either that or they have a special collar that opens the door for the wearer of the collar.

    Edit.... Mike confirmed this

is there a safety feature if it malfunctions to keep from squashing someone?
Are they sliding doors or swinging Doors?

Leftover rib bones from my Christmas prime rib went to good use.
    IMG_20151227_182452887.jpg

There was no cracking of the bones as the roast was rare, but I used the opportunity to have William allow me to take the bone from him while he was chewing on it. He had no problem with letting me take the bone from his mouth. I gave it back after praising him. I feel this was a very important step today, as it shows William respects and trusts me.

    Who's the Alpha now?

Doors are power up and gravity +/- counter weight down Zero risk of squashing. BTW, door is locked tight when down until the cord starts is lift. Steel reinforcement whenever we are out of town and the dogs are at the pet sitter. Pretty much foolproof.

Ahh, I had guessed that they had proximity transmitters on their collars. Hope the wildlife doesn't learn to use the switch

That's the plan. The prior dog doors worked for the dogs, but they were horribly leak for heat/AC in the winter/summer and took up half of our sliding glass doors. Should be a big improvement on both fronts.

Had some good fun the other day At my daughter's house, my son in law's boy, was babysitting a French Bulldog that he brought with him, I was having so much fun playing with him that I didn't even think to take a picture.
He turned into a buddy real fast, even with all the other people there, he was following me around and everything. :)
My daughters cats made a beeline upstairs when he showed up:)

Very good. Both my labs are that way. Good to know how they will react. Some dogs have food aggression. I'm told it can be treated, but I was not willing to get bitten whenever I had a rescue dog with this problem. The reason I have labs is because they are known to be gentle. With eight grand children, having no bite dogs is a must.

I have only seen food aggression on tv shows before, looks daunting to me, and I worked at a humane society for 3 years, interesting. Thankfully I have never encountered that problem, all my many dogs, most of them from rescue centers, have always eaten while right next to eachother with no problems. At this point in time I could take on one with that affliction either, I feel the same way Larry.

I only see food aggression if I'm a tad bit late on feeding time. Hmm. I guess I don't see too much of that even :)

Well, that didn't last long, the only thing still intact are the rubber kongs and they will only play with them if I smear pb on them. That red firehose thing was "the toughest soft chew toy we make"

I think I'll just stick with the marrow bones, somebody gave me the idea of restuffing them with a ricotta/veggie mix and freezing them.

Same issue here. We use a marrow bone stuffed with "Roll Over" which is a meat stick sold @ the pet store.
