Down to 38º outside so I fired the stove back up a couple of hours ago and will load a few splits for the overnight burn. More seasonable temps moving in early next week.

Down to 28 ish here early this morning. Frost on the ground. Time to clean the boiler and fire it back up. Finally. And my Peerless oil boiler got some needed exercise the last 48 hours.

The house was 72 last night so we went without an overnight fire, this morning we had 28 degrees (house temp dropped to 68) so we have some Cherry burning in the Liberty.

Warmed up overnight, 36º at midnight and 45º at 7:30. I'll let the stove go cold as 60º expected today with rain until Sunday evening. Off to visits our kids today.

39 out here, and its misting out, with a decent wind. It feels colder than it is. I've got a medium fire in the quadrafire with 4 splits of Hickory.

Man your tearing up that wood stove.

Can you see how you got by without it?

    How's Mrs. Horkn like it?

    Danielle LOVES it!

She has said numerous times how easy it is to use, how long the wood lasts, and how nice, warm, and that she can see the light from the fire so well.

It's the best $350 that I think I've ever spent. Well, definitely up there at the top of the list.

I may use the same amount of wood as I did before I put the stove in, but the house is warmer, the gas furnace doesn't kick in, and it's just so easy and nice.

Yep you will use then same amount of wood or more once you keep the game going not to let furnace kick on. BUT your house will be warmer, you will save LOTS of money and you actually will be able to keep more of the house warm and all day vs a few hours a day.

That's great but I knew the wife would like it.
You got it in there for a really good price all together.
Big difference between that and the fireplace, huh
Good price, happy wife, warm house, win, win, win

Some kind of ice/rain thing goin' on outside for the last 5-6 hours.
Right around freezing, but we're all gooder here in the house.
I guess we're due for some snow starting Monday afternoon/evening.
Just loaded the 30 with about 8 Maple splits for the night. It's settling into a nice secondary burn. No problem keeping the house warm in these temps.

Low headed to 20, 6 splits of red oak, almost full load. Temps headed downward from 20 all day tomorrow to 9 overnight. Good burning weather finally!:coldfire: Have a great looking secondary burn going as well in the quad 3100. Off to bed, good night.
