Just bought a new desktop yesterday with Win10...Haven't completely set it up yet as it's different!!
Upgraded my laptop to 10 because I hated the 8 that it came with. Like 10 much better. Got rid of Edge and went back to IE. Hopefully I won't have any issues with the OS, but my laptop isn't my main computer, so not a huge deal if there are problems. OTH, I will not upgrade my desktop from WIN 7 - it is good, the OS is fine, no reason for me to mess with it especially since it is my main computer.
I had a major hiccup yesterday, from my laptop. I don't know if it was the laptop or Windows 10. But I was typing on FHC and all of a sudden it went black and with only a white curser.... And had to do a hard shutdown and then it was a slow reboot....
I decided to try the upgrade on my main machine from 7 professional 64 bit. However, I made sure to make a Totally Functional backup of my drive to another drive first, using "WD Acronis True Image" program (similar to Symantic "Ghost"). It was a good thing, windows 10 did not load the right drivers for two items on my pretty state of the art Asus machine. I was ultimately able to correct one driver restoring sound, but could not restore the other. I ended up wiping out that drive and restoring my machine back to 7 professional with the second backup image drive. I'll pass on windows 10 for now. Also interesting that I have two almost identical home built PCs based on the same Asus MBs. Windows is still trying almost daily to upgrade my machine (again), but it has never offered the free upgrade to my daughter's machine, also 7 professional 64 bit.
Updated, I turned on my PC this Am only to find that Windows 10 had updated itself. Updates in windows ten are not optional. They happen without your being able to opt out. To my surprise they fixed Cortana and Edge. That broke a long time ago, and nothing, but nothing fixed it. It was a problem for many folks. I became disgusted with Microsoft. So here, Dec 26th, I find my computed updated and just purring along. I won't hold my breath for this to last. Some hacker will get in again and mess it up. I have been running FHC through Chrome. Chrome seems to be very stable with our forum.
It is our browser of choice across all platforms. Safari has been good to me on the iOS devices but if I run into trouble, I fire up Chrome.
