last saturday we were a little slow in the shop. We all know how that turns out when your surrounded with toys. We spent half a day dragging this out of the weeds and throwing a new motor/brakes/clutch/belt on it and building new rims for the rear since the old ones were dry rotted and the rims were destroyed by the time we got them to slide off the axle.
I had to sell my go cart I built a few years ago. Good times were had with that toy. But now, I've got a quad down here at home. So it's all good, and it has suspension too!
950 series Briggs engine which if my rough math is right, works out to be 6hp. I have an old TriSport kart that is next up. 13hp Honda for it with the same clutch and brake setup. That should be even more entertaining
You might be waiting awhile. This kart has been in the weeds for 2 years or better. TriSport has been there longer than that. A slow day in my shop is non existent.... I just made that excuse up so we could do something fun for a change
I use to have a gocart when i was in highschool. Strictly an onroad cart, sat low, was home made. Had a simple 5hp B&S motor on it. We removed the govenor and built an exhaust pipe for it. Ran a solid 57mph, even going up hill. Eyes would water if ya didnt have glasses of some kind on. There was a fire department next door, if ya entered the parking lot just right and cranked the wheel, it would spin out. We went through so many sets of narrow, slick like tires on that thing.
Super Karts are just nuts. Sports cars don't have a chance against one. FWIW, 231 KPH is FAST! All with a 250cc motor.
Well here is the finished product. We fabbed up some tree bars, fenders, a taller roll bar and added a racing seat to it.
