4" Magnetic Ground Block These are easy, have a center hole for 1/2" already. I use two joined with a 1/2" 13 coupling to give me a holder that I can use in different locations. I ended up taking the magnet off a ground clamp and another off a mig gun holder. They have slightly different strengths so whatever it is holding will break free before the base magnet does.

Here is the pile we split in 2 hours. For the 1st hour we were just playing with it seeing what it would do.

I'll check out the magnets next time I'm at HF.

The pile grew more today. I wish I had a conveyor. A Timberwolf TW-5 or a Supersplit would be nice too.

The only thing I see is the wings could be a bit longer as the wood seems to split away from them rather quickly due to the vertical wedge. Just my opinion

That 4 way seems to work quite well.

    Nice jobber

I cut the wings for another wedge that I gave up on. Since I was able to bend the metal for this wedge I ended up with a larger area in the middle. I got in a hurry and wanted to get in operation and used the wings I had cut and ground an edge on them. I am going to make some longer wings for it. It works good now but on white oak. You know how stringy white oak is, the wedge busts it but with the shorter wings there are a few stands holding the split together. I think the longer wings will help with this and maybe it will keep some splits from going around. I may also have to add the pieces to the wings to help spread the wood apart like the splitfires have. The worst part is grinding the edge for the wings.

    Thanks.

My wood pile grew some more but now I am out of stuff to split with the exception of a few uglies. I started on that pile with 17.1 hours on the splitter. By 19.1hrs I had that trailer load I posted on the previous page. The trailer holds 1.33 cords. The splitter now has 23.6hrs on it. I am hoping I have 6 or 6.5 cord including the trailer load.

    Looks like red oak.

That wedge works great, but maybe add a tiny bit longer to make a clean split as it seems that gap is making you have to resplit. On oak, it's not that big of a deal, but elm would give you fits.

I'm pretty impressed with that splitter though.

Oh yeah, elm is real fun when your wedge is smaller then the wood.

I pretty happy with the speed of the splitter especially with the 4 way. I still wish it was faster but if I had a $10,000 splitter I would probably want it to be faster too.

I'm not that great on IDing trees but I think it was a combination of red, white, and pin oak. I a lot of it was stringy. Now that I got that split I plan on making a new set of wings.

I hear those predator engines are pretty good, what's your opinion so far?

I like it. It starts on the first pull, the exhaust is not real stinky and does not use oil. I made a guy on another forum mad when I said I would put it up against an entry level Briggs, Kohler, Kawasaki, Subaru, and Honda. I put the hour meter on the splitter to see how long the engine lasts, and the splitter. I would like to have a concrete mixer and if i find one with a bad engine I'll put a predator on it. I also want a mini bike and it will get a predator:rofl:

We almost went with a 13 hp predator when redoing our splitter but for a 100 dollar difference and only a 90 day warranty I went for the commercial Honda

I would have gone with the commercial Honda for that price.

Here is my toolbox holder. I did not have the bungee cord on in the pic. The tool box is an ammo can from HF.
