Officially on vaca. Can't wonder anywhere to far cause the wife still has to work. But Its still nice knowing I don't need to report for 11 days.
Going to mom tomorrow and spending xmas at home. Got a few tidbits to clean up over the weekend. Then I can goof off for a few. :dancer:
Won't be doing much of this though!! :makeitrain"

Yesterday afternoon I went out and checked on our bees. Sure enough they were busy buzzing about, enjoying the warm weather on the 23rd of December. If the winter continues like this just maybe I won't lose as many hives.

Do you have to feed them sugar water if they are active when there are no flowers or do they keep off their honey? Or maybe you feed them sugar water so they don't feed off the honey?

I was saying the high winds haven't knock out the power yet to the wife and daughter and 1 second later, lights out:mad:

I do my best to ensure they have enough pollen and honey stores as near to the cluster as possible. I also give them winter mix protein patties. Sugar water would freeze, well normally, so I prefer to mix and match supers and frames so they're as balanced as I can make them with frames of pollen and honey.

Does that happen often up there? I have a generator but haven't needed it for 10 years. The first year we were here, while we were building, we weren't on the grid.

Shut down the Cellar Dweller, removed the door and replaced the gasket this morning.

Once I was done messing with the gasket, gave the stove a light cleaning and emptied the ash can (didn't need it, but figured I might as well. Letting the gasket glue cure and will probably fire it up tonight. Although it will be warm today, the ground is cold so the basement will still need heat to maintain the foundation temp.

Oh, and got to use the new workbench while replacing the gasket :dex:

At least twice or trice a year. I got a generator but I want to add a transfer switch to it because I have no way of telling if the power comes back on!

Leave a light on that's not on a generator circuit.....but the transfer switch is the way to go.

I think my thermometer is broken - it has been 40* since early this morning. What is up with that? They promised me a nice warm, record-breaking day!

Same here! Looking at the time, I don't think it is going to be the record breaking temps as predicted.
