Jeffrey, it takes a man to admit when he screwed up. From what I see in this post I see that you are a man, a decent man and it takes big ones to admit when you are wrong. Good for you!

You are right, I don't know you. But your posts do tell me how you think, feel, and what is acceptable treatment of family members. If you can't pick up what you're putting down, I can't make you understand it.

I do understand not wanting to look at a mess for who knows how long and in some neighborhoods it's less OK than others. And it's never smart to assume, but if your FIL knows you're on the prowl for wood he could've easily put 20 (heck 40) clean rounds neatly on the side and had them haul the rest. Doesn't seem like too much to expect IMO.

I thought the dust was settled myself a ways back. A few dogs nipping at my ankle is all. I think the OP was venting, and I think I was sounding like my father and it went stray for a bit. It's all good.

    Wow!

After two days or so of slow site speeds, I read through this post (mostly anyway).
Sure are a few things on my mind about this, but then.....seems to have been said in the most parts. And why continue to

Its just that Michigan comment that gets to me! And coming from New York?  Ouch!

Well this thread went a few ways, im glad to see that it's working it's way back around and everyone is putting it behind them. This is a great place to vent the frustration given the situation. As shown here we don't all agree on everything but we're all here for the same reason. Nothing wrong with posting about something that's bugging the op. I would have been bothered by the same thing. But as said above its done now and he can move on. Hopefully you will find some good places to grab some more wood in the near future.

All I've done so far in this thread is to "like" several posts.

IMHTBHO; this was direct attack by his "in-laws" at him personally..................especially since they knew that "their daughter and her husband" burn wood to heat their home. I think the "in-laws" are playing "passive aggressive" and wanted to make him ASK for it.

Now if the OP's wife sides with Mommy and Daddy on this issue.....................then there's other issues going on.

I've seen a lot of my best friends get divorced for a lot less than this though!!

Drop it, but remember it.....................and make sound snide/profound remarks about this in the future if the situation presents it. Otherwise; be conspicuously absent for "work details" at their house!!

Wow. It's just firewood. The chit literally grows on trees. No sense in everyone getting so worked up over it.

The OP can haul wood with whatever he damm well pleases too.

I just read through this entire thread, boy that's time I could have spent on something more enjoyable like smashing my thumb with a hammer or something. A merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
