Here's one that I came across on the job one day. The XL is HUGE and the arched firebox is the giveaway. Some day I plan to drag this out of the guys basement. 10" Smoke pipe.
NICE!!!!! Hey Welcome Bushman! Good to have you here If you have the chance go to our introducing thread and say Hi!
You better have a "LOT" of help! That thing weigh's in at 545 lbs. If you do get it, "I" would keep it as a keepsake, conversation piece they are so rare now! Personally, thats only the 8th one I've seen in pictures and only 3 in real life.
I really miss the double doors on our old Schrader. The tilt down doors on the BlazeKing and Englewood were not as good, but still easier. Sure, no glass for the show, and it was not airtight, but wow was it easy to load vs a side swing single door.
No it can't be an XL compared to the one I posted. Look at the size of the air vents compared to the doors.
No, as you said, it's an insert for a fireplace. a comparetive size would be the Fisher Grandma bear stove. Kodiak/Alaska stoves also made one.
Heres a couple pics of a size comparison, the first pic is a Baby Bear stove, the second is My Grandma stove. She's been there since about 1981 I think. The next two are also a Fisher Grandma, and the new two after that is a Mama bear I resurrected from the dead. Somebody cut the legs down "WAY" short so they could use it in a fire place. I fabricated and welded new style legs on her. So you can see the size of the XL, you can almost put the Baby bear in it!
Wow.....that thing is a mammoth! Nice job on the legs....... cant even tell you did anything in that last pic, its such a clean job. Is that how the legs would have looked in an original state? Nice work!
No, they were the standard angle iron, with a slight taper, heres some pics of what I did, the standard leg according to the prints were 6 1/2" to 7"
Haha just bustin your stones buddy. Lookin forward to seeing this beast! I didn't even know they existed.
I Know my friend!!! I'm scheduled to pick it up on the 28th! I have hunted for a long time for one of these. I made the deal with a verbal handshake long distance. It is "truly" a beast, it will handle a 28" log and fit right in, with no problem
