That's probably what I have burnt this year too so far. That includes my freebie face cord of basswood my buddy dropped off. Now, I still had an open FP until 2 weeks ago, and my wife has been home a lot recently. So there's been a fire going at least every evening, unless it was 65° or warmer outside.
Been so warm here that I'm going to have to move wood that will be (should have already been) burnt this year in order to store wood for the next 2 years. It's causing me more work....grrrrr!
A lot less burned here too. I just replenished my basement again this morning since there's no snow on the ground. I made a comment in another thread about how this warm weather is a blessing but for some reason my post got deleted, and no, I didn't write anything political.
hey, I am happy, this is the first December I have made more firewood CSS, than I have used.. That's saying something! but after last 2 winters I need to get ahead..
Chris, look around as it may have just been moved to another forum. Try the Everything else and see if it might be there. Otherwise, I'd be contacting a moderator to see why it is gone.
I have burned less than last year, but not a whole lot less. My stove isn't large enough or very well situated (its in the basement) so I can burn it hot when the weather is 40 outside and we aren't too hot. I have been burning nights and evenings, and using maybe 2/3 of the wood I would have used in a colder fall. Part of the reason I have burned a fair bit is that, like others here, I am running out of space. Actually I am running out of the stone pads I use to stack on. I could make more, but it is more fun to burn some old wood to make room for new.
I posted it in this thread here. Is a mild winter good for the economy? | Firewood Hoarders Club It's not a big deal Scotty. I've bitten my tongue a few times for the good of the community and to follow the rules and will continue to do so.
I honestly cannot see where you posted, we as admins can still see deleted posts..... Hmmmm. At any rate, you're a part of the family here buddy. No worries...
One not so bright side of this weather this year is the slick ground in the woods. We have gotten a bit of rain and with clay soil it is dangerous to work in the woods since most are somewhat hilly.
i've only had a handful of fires so far this season, no complaints here, that much less i have to cut for next season..........
Besides the normal Present from the city I got another that says all my wood is in the wrong place. All 40 cord worth. As far as how much I've used - one 30 gallon barrel of ashes.
Here too man,it sounds like I'm a nut but I don't like it, at all... I've used about a qtr cord. Last year I went into Jan w almost a cord in the ash pile.. hope winter decides to sober up and act like a cold som b#!÷×¥€h that it is.
Yah, no kidding! Or feedin a OWB I have burnt ~1/3 of a cord in my Drolet Tundra furnace, and have yet to dig ashes out, although it is time to do it now...
I haven't burned much- maybe a half cord. I am well ahead of where I was this time last year as far as wood reserves. I processed and stacked the oak I scored this summer as well as a maple and an oak that came down in my woods. I'm not as far ahead as I thought I would be, though. There has been so much rain and the ground is so soft that I really can't do any firewooding without tearing everything up. I've got another maple cut into sections just sitting in the woods waiting for the ground to dry enough for me to retrieve it. I'm guessing that with all the rain and wind we've had, there will be more downed trees to discover.
We have same issue w rain here in md. . I am eying 2 dead standing red oaks and a dead hard maple. It's a mud bog down in the holler.. happy new year!
