:hair: They ransacked the house, took her jewelry, blank checks, and a few hundred in gift cards she had bought for Christmas. Even worse? She found her treasured cat lost and roaming the streets.

No, she is in California. I cannot figure out why his family lives in such a crime ridden area, except they could say the same about my weather....

We've had a few things like this happen close by, even one elderly couple was working in the front yard and someone broke in the back and robbed them. At least she wasn't there and didn't get hurt.

Yeah, but your weather isn't a crime, it just is.
Central Valley? I grew up on the Central Coast, I hate to go back, even to visit.

Sigh, unfortunately she is working beyond retirement age, as many older folks that should be retired as well. Thank God she was at work when it happened.

Last time I went to visit was 1999, we booked the best hotel in town. There was a gang incident that night, hotel staff locked themselves in the locked office. WWW has been back since then and crime is worse now. No thank you.

Yes, she was not home, and the cat seems fine. For your post!?!?!? 95 y/o :picard: I do find this from your article very helpful though

He suggests residents take the following safety precautions:

    • Lock all doors and windows

    • Make sure property is well-lit

    • Leave exterior lights on at night

    • Trim shrubs and bushes so people can’t hide in their shadows

    • Report “suspicious noise and activity”

He says people who believe an intruder in their house should call 911 immediately and turn on lights. Those with remote car alarms should engage them. Love says people should not investigate themselves and wait for police to arrive.

I hear you. Spent a lot of time in Coalinga and surrounding areas.
Do what you can to relocate her. Those small valley towns are beyond salvation. Seriously.

I do too, I am versed by WWW where they are and how to use them. Sadly, she is against firearms. I sent her mother (my stubborn grandma inlaw that I love dearly) sticky taped alarms for windows and doors after someone tried break into her bathroom window while she was on the toilet. Neither of them installed them. Huh?
