Not sure what you guys pay for various powders down there, but I almost died of sticker shock when I saw the price of some at Cabelas online. $47 for a one pound can of Varget IIRC.

It's usually in short supply up here too. Almost everyone I know who reloads, has a cartridge that Varget performs like a miracle drug in it.

So I read on the interwebs....never been able to try it because of unavailability though. Trying to find somebody to split one with maybe.

I scored a keg of varget local about a month ago. $180 ish iirc.

Cabelas powder prices are Reeeeediculous so I'd believe they are the first retailer to mark varget up that high.

Powder valley is about as fair priced as anyone out there. Usually can't be beat em actually. Nice score op!

Is it as good as it's cracked up to be? I'm itching to pull the trigger here.....reloading .308 and .223 currently and probably adding something new come spring.

I only use it in 223, mainly 55 and 62 gr projectiles, and it's as good or better than h335. Varget supposed to be good in 308 also from what I've read but no first hand experience.

For .223 I've had excellent results with CFE223 and RL15 under 80.5gr Bergers. IMR4064 has provided the best load I've found for my .308 so far and I'm still dialing it in.

Try not to get all your cartridges addicted to Varget, or you'll be in a world of hurt when it dries up. My 9.3x62 and 458 win mag both snort that stuff.:(
