Scheduled a 7 cord load getting dropped this Saturday. $400, splitting cost with a buddy. We are going to try our luck at selling some. Get it c/s/s asap and sell it middle of summer. Probably sell it as campfire wood/unseasoned to make the $ to buy another load to keep adding to our stacks and put some in our pockets. We are both set for a couple years. If it doesn't sell we will be even further ahead! "Seasoned" wood is selling for $100- $130 for a face cord/truck load. I think if we price it right we won't have any trouble selling it. PLUS its a good reason to play with the new 562xp I convinced the better half I "needed"!! It should pay for itself and then some if we can sell all the wood!
Don't forget, what most sell as "seasoned" is not. It is fresh cut or fresh split. Either way, that is not "seasoned." So you might try to sell some of that wood this winter if you have a notion to.
Would like instant return but would at least like it to dry some before we sell it. Not looking to burn someones house down. Maybe even list it as fresh cut/split for next winter or for OWBs. That would give it approx 10 months if they intend to use it in their stove in 2016-2017.
Best of luck to ya , hope it works out good . "Seasoned" wood is selling for $100- $130 for a face cord, Wow prices high around there. 50 to 70 a face cord around here
Thats all oak definitely not dry! Thats what living near the twin cities does to prices. Supply and demand. Not sure how much of it is actually selling at that price though. Thats average CL prices. I was selling some punked popple and boxelder campfire only wood for $85 a tossed truck load with out a problem. A lot of people simply don't have the tools or time or ambition. And its a way better option than the $6-$8 bundles at the gas station ($1 per split).
I was quite surprised to see the prices for wood down in the cities..... You wouldn't have to sell much at these prices to make your money back! Images from Craigslist MPLS/St. Paul...
I think it is because we have such a glut of white ash on the market and much more that is easy to get.
We've got the EAB dead ash around here in many parts of Wisconsin, but the firewood is still very high priced. I think the high wood prices is one of those things that just doesn't make sense, no matter how much logic you apply. BTW Sconnie Burner $400 for 7 cords is a pretty good deal.
Yeah, had to jump on it for sure. We'll see what we end up with. If its good wood I might order another load after the holidays if there is any $ left , just for my own burning! I have about 6 cord of all red oak, a cord of white oak, and 2 cords of elm/ash mix. And about a cord of boxelder. And thats not including what I have for this year. I would like more lesser btu woods for the shoulder seasons. The oak gets a bit warm in outside temps over 40! I secretly hope it doesn't ALL sell. If we can cover the $400 we'd be happy with the approx 5 cord of left overs we essentially got for free. BTW an all oak load was only $500, but we figured it wouldn't dry well enough to even think about selling this year!
Add says semi truck load of 7 full cord. So I can only assume by semi truck load it is a trailer. We'll see what he shows up with. Im already ready to deny or negotiate if it isn't!
