When hiking yesterday, we decided to climb down a dry creek bed and down in some boulders, whatever the thing is revealed itself. The round part goes up an down about a quarter inch and it's copper/brass. The numbers 986 are stamped on it. Thx

Is doesn't look threaded under the round part. I'm probably off, but I am thinking a lever for a pressure relief on a cylinder or some type of actuator lever. Copper or brass leads me to plumbing or steam-type part.

Can you open it, see what the "round" section hits or does? The bottom looks like a seal off of sometype (kinda of like what I think fishingpol is refering to), but the fork end has me curious...

Round groove looks like a sight glass tube or cylinder should fit into it. Plunger type mechanism.

Here it is opened at its fullest. Inside is a round flat piece that comes out

I thought that too, but generally atomizing dampers don't come equipped with a Fracas Pin.............

Take it and put it in your car. Drive 88 mph, that should take you back to the future where you can see it new and it use. Then report back to us. We'll wait..........................
