Well the one I hit low a few weeks ago was killed yesterday. Im glad that he didn't suffer after my poor shot and that someone i know was able to kill him.
Nice buck. Did he send you a pic where the shot went you made? Was he limping or anything when he killed him?
Tomorrow's the last day of deer hunting 'til after Christmas. No matter what happens, Sunday is the official start of winter firewoodin' season. Hooray!
I havent been hinting yet thus year. I have written this one off. My son has been sick the last two weekends when I was going to go to farm to hunt. Its so late in the season I wasnt to anxious to hunt anyway. Our season goes to the first. I may go around the house but probably won't see anything.
Saw my first buck yesterday ~2yo 4 pt still in partial velvet. He was hanging with a group of 5 does - they are my bait. I have them patterned pretty well and before long the bigger bucks will mess up
Regional genetic pool issue. There have been studies all over AL on gestation/conception times and some does aren't coming into estrus until mid-Feb. I've seen fawns in spot as late as September here, and August is pretty common. Most of his velvet was gone but still bloody. Rut won't even start until late Dec and that could be moved if the weather doesn't cooperate. As for being a 4pt? pretty common 1.5-2yo would go from spike last year if they made it to basket 4/6 this year in this area just depends on natural food sources
I have seen spots in sept here in SC. And Yea I forgot Al goes into january for the season and y'all have a reall late rut
