Thanks. Going through the list already. We have a HUGE amount of Lyme in our area and I recently picked several partially engorged ticks off of her. I hope it's just Lyme. She's had it before, even though she has been vaccinated and is on year round Frontline+. We are going to start her on doxycycline empirically tomorrow. I promise to keep you up to date. Thanks for letting me "share" with you all. What at great group of people.

Both are decent foods. But it goes back to what they will tolerate. I know that I have to mix foods for a while if I want to change them over. I'm all for feeding them the same food you eat so long as it doesn't have food like onions and grapes etc. and it is food you do eat, not what you would cut off and toss away. One of my dogs loves to eat raw carrots with me. She also loves Broccoli and Brussels Spouts. She steals cucumbers of the vines and will eat summer squash. Sugar peas have to be fenced in to keep her out of them. I didn't have much of a garden last year, so she got the stuff from the market.

I have been advised that it is contraindicated to vaccinate for Lyme's if your dog has tested positive for Lyme's. My dog got it and his record is marked "do not vaccinate for Lyme's". Good luck with the doxycycline. as always with an antibiotic, please consider giving her probiotics with it. Otherwise, she is going to have cramps and diarrhea and might become dehydrated. Big pharmacy has tripled the price for doxycycline. Big demand for it with Lyme's so prevalent. I had to be treated twice in a row with that Rx when I contracted Lyme's. That med is rough of the system.

Not contraindicated to vax for Lyme after infection, just a waste of money. Once, they've had it, they have been naturally "vaccinated" so the vaccine doesn't do anything better. Rosie was vax'd before she got her first case of Lyme. FWIW, >50% of all dogs in our area have been infected by Lyme disease. Also, our vet has given us a very generous doxy Rx, enough for several treatments. She understands that we know what we are doing, and whenever a dog gets a limp, we should wait a week to see if it heals, if not, then a week of doxy, before we even need to bring the dog in for further eval. We've been down that road >10 times, and I'm a physician, so she trusts our judgement.

Our late Buster got lyme. It was terrible. His rear legs went out and didnt work. It was only a few doses of meds and he bounced back. Both Maple & Saucy have been vaccinated. My friends dog got something other than lyme from a tick and was in horrible pain. Meds worked well. The ticks are absolutely out of control with this warm weather! Its no good.......

Took a quick romp in the woods while Dawn gets ready (taking the pups on a hike in a bit) Maple loves jumping in the shower, ummm, to clean her feet!
