Had a 60' maple that had succumbed over the last year. We have a mated pair of the large Pileated Woodpeckers living in our bush for the last 5 years who had a field day with this tree all summer. Since it was leaning over the top of my pole shed, thought I better get er' down before we get too much wind or ice. So, today, down she came. Nice snack of firewood out of it , so all is not lost.................
Hey rotti, nice placement. great clean up. I did not see a face cut notch what method did you use? looks like it went great
Just cut a wedge out of the direction of fall, then a straight back cut. Had a rope on the top and we just pulled er' back away from the lean toward the shed. Easy peasy................
Looks good and great to see it went as planned. Them woodpeckers look like they were having a great ol time.
Good that you put it down where you wanted it to go MN was gonna bring it down, somewhere. CSS it tomorrow ?
No, short of time the rest of this week. Need to get it cleaned up and moved over to my processing area which is close by.
I bet if you put an ad on CL, you'd get at least a couple hundred for this................. Despite the peckerheads, that tree looks in pretty gooder shape.
From the looks of it , if you had waited a little longer the Pileated Woodpeckers would have taken it down! Nice Haul!
LOL.................actually got it all bucked up and moved down to my processing area. Took the loader and just pushed the brush back into the bush which will make the small critters happy. Amazing how fast the brush will break down. Guesstimating about 1/2 to 3/4 cord of firewood should be realized from it. Busy the rest of the week. If the weather isn't bad on the weekend, hope to get some split up. Only problem is, with no frost in the ground, my processing area is a muck hole now. Might have to wait till things tighten up a little.
my dad always says he is busier in retirement than before or when the heck did I find time to work 50 hours a week
