Update: Have nailed 4 so far, and winged one. Took quite a while to find the empty trap with signs it might have got him too.

All with a thin smear of peanut butter on the yeller flapper thingy. My honey thinks we got em all... :picard:..... ;)

That is just food for others. I noticed that when ever there is a dead mouse, it isn't there long before the body is gone. :bug:

I have a field stone foundation under an 1880 house, the war never ends here. So far this year, 12 or so from the cellar. 15 or so from the garage, and a few from the barn. And yes, the survivors have ate carcasses from what I've seen as well. Happy hunting to you all.

Back in the 80's, I lived in a house that was built by the CCC back in the day. Used no sill or top plates in the construction of the walls so any mouse had free run of the house. Once things got quiet in the evening, about all you could hear was the stampede of feet in the walls/ceilings. If I didn't get up and release the traps right after they were caught, I would have partially consumed carcasses the next day! Cannibals (we thought)! Until we caught a vole in one of our traps. Thought it was a mouse (at first) that had lost part of it's tail in a close call with a trap. Then found out that they will eat the mice that they can catch. This is probably what is going on at your places also.....?

Yes, could be. I do catch a lot of voles, I just lump them in the mouse category.

I've been using a bucket trap (a little different than this) for a few years at the cottage and I just set on up at the hunt camp when I left last week. We use plumbers antifreeze in the bucket. It can stay there active year round and the mice that fall in dissolve with no smell at all, so great for extended times away

My cottage one is just a couple gallon bucket with a smear of peanut butter on the inside down a couple of inches from the rim with a stick up to the rim. Brother had an issue at his place near the end of summer and after trying a few different methods of traps and poison. Set up a bucket and within two weeks had about 20 mice gone and maybe 1 or 2 since:thumbs:

I set up a 5 gallon bucket at the hunt camp with a peanut butter covered bottle on a dowel like this.

Pets can be an issue with bucket traps. No pets at the hunt camp and the one at the cottage is behind a closed door.

Must be a couple running around the shop - springers have been driven me nutz all morning. Nothing in the traps yet.

We don't have issues with critters. She eats breakfast then goes on a killing spree for sport. Mice, chipmunks, flying squirrel, various birds and even a bat have fallen to her.

So how are you catching the voles??? I think I have both moles and voles wrecking the lawn, I have been trapping with a regular victors snap trap with the fake cheese thing on it...I have scored 6 or seven so far, I dig out their hole some and put the trap right close and put a bucket over it.
