Real good buddy lives outside of St. Louis - got a quote of $800 to drop a post oak and walnut. He agreed, but they blew him off 3 times. So......I get a call......will I come out and drop them if he buys my ticket! Haven't seen him in a couple years, so heck yeah! Got good photos of the trees - the walnut is an easy leaner away from the house and the post oak is leaning a bit to the house, but plenty of anchors to use a come along and wedge it away. Looks like I'll head there in middle January. He's real interested in wood processing - new house with stove - but has never used a chainsaw - I'm also going to give him lessons on cutting safely, stacking, etc., etc. - will be a blast! We'll just have to take it easy in the evenings....... Cheers!
Only somebody from New Hampshire, well, Maine too, would fly halfway across the country to take down two trees. You make me proud NH_Wood.
Why not have him buy a saw, if he's getting into wood burning he'll need one. Can't beat a 5yr warranty on echo saws and the price is right...
That's the plan - ticket is about $350 - leaving enough to buy a nice saw - he asked me to recommend one, and I always recommend a 50cc saw for newbies - recommended a dolly - 5105 or husq 550xp - I think he's leaning toward the 550xp. Cheers!
590 timberwolf... the extra $ could go to spare bar and chains, lots of bar oil, nose grease gun.... etc.
Ha! Yep - and I know him well - he'll be hooked real quick. 'Hey buddy, want to try a little of this 550xp? Just a little - come back if you like it and want some more......" Cheers!
Too bad its wasn't on the other side of the state, I'd be willing to come over to lend a hand... Sounds like a good time...(at the rate this winter is going you maybe in shirts and shorts cutting that tree down...)....
That would have been great! It's just a bunch of hours in a truck.......come on down! Hoping for good weather - that could be the one bad deal - hoping for at least no rain! Cheers!
