I've been driving past this ash that came down about two weeks ago. Finally stopped and asked the land owner permission and they said I could have it! It came down across the road. Trunk on one side and top on the other. Made three trips like this IMG_20151206_140117160.jpg for a total that looks like this. IMG_20151206_145223325.jpg All round where cut at 20". Piles are 100" long and 75" tall for a calculated total of 86cuft. Not sure if it'll stack out to a full cord after split. This one's from the other side. The stuff on the rack is not from yesterday. It was right next to the road but I didn't feel right taking it without asking. Largest round was about 18".

Yeah I didn't realize how much it was until I stacked it this afternoon. Had to have been 1300lbs in each load if my math was correct. Probably a little much for it but was only about 10 miles round trip.

I've found people are surprised that I'll do all that work for free. Some have said no initially thinking I want to get paid, then I explain and I'm in.

I sure wish it was like that here. To many people heat their homes with wood. I'm surprised, this one sat right at the edge of the road for almost two weeks! I drove past it to and from work everyday and finally convinced myself to stop and ask about it. Lol. Next time I'll ask sooner.

Nice score. A few minutes to ask and many BTUs out of the deal. Thanks for sharing!

You did right Jeffrey. Always ask. This time it really paid off nicely.

Nice catch, Jeffrey. Ten minutes away sounds very doable to me (except for like willow, heheh). It would be interesting how close to a cord it comes split & stacked.

That is the part I'm curious about. I will try and remember to update this thread when I get it split n stacked.
