Anyone ever have bad or unpleasant smelling pellets?

In my case, I just opened a Bag of pellets that I never have used before and the almost smell like cat pee? Not sure if anyone has ever had this experience?

I'm pretty sure a cat did not actually pee on them. I had another bag of the same brand that I just opened and they also smell.

There were some a number of years ago that got a reputation for the bags smelling like cat pee. Don't remember the brand though

The bags that I got from TSC last month smelled like that. The pellets didn't stink, the bags did. And no, ,y cats didn't get to them - I realized it as I was unloading them from the truck, so they weren't in the house yet. The bags weren't sticky like there was dried yuck on them (which I do know what is like :headbang:), so I am unsure exactly why the smell. I did wash my hands and arm meticulously after unloading them and again after dumping each bag into the stove - glad I only got 5 or 6 of them!

well there not okies. The bags don't even have holes in them and the pellets don't look like they have ever been wet. The bags are clean and free from any urine. When the stove started up I went outside and the smoke did not stink and actually smelled pretty good. But man these don't smell good.

We have a spruce tree here we call "cat-pizz spruce" because it smells just like cat pee. White Spruce
Wonder if there is any connection?
I had one I thought was a regular tree. I had transplanted from the woods to my front lawn. Grew really fast. When the sun hit it during the heat of the day, I couldn't stand the odor. So I removed that beautiful 20ft tree. More important to be able to open the windows.
