I assume you make your own dishwasher detergent. Where did you get the recipe? Does it save money or the fact you know what is in it have you decide to make your own?

We did. The stuff we were buying at the store wasn't cutting it so we started expiramenting. We have recently gone back to store bought after mixed results--but we add TSP to it to make it do a good job. You see, recently companies were forced to remove phosphates from their recipe due to questionable studies that suggest it may have an impact on the environment. Maybe. Anyway, that's when our detergent stopped rinsing clean. If you have soft water, you probably have noticed a change.

Our dishwasher gets its hot water directly from the domestic hot water heat exchanger in our heat storage tank. This water is 160 F so you almost do not need soap. There was a time this water was 195 F and at this temperature, soap was not needed but dishwashers would only last 3 to 4 years. Last year I installed a mixing valve ahead of the dishwasher and set it at 160 F. The new dishwasher is starting year two so we will see if 160 F water is low enough for the machine to survive!

The old lady has been at it again. Check out my Shredder style face mask for running the snow blower. Works with my hearing protection too.

Messed up my back last night and it is killing me so my wife was kind enough to have brought 2 loads of wood in for me while I was at work!
Now I can sit back and enjoy a new brew I found, Taproom No. 21 Copper Lager. I am really digging the flavor.

I don't know we ordered one a while ago and it finally showed up. It's the spring edition?!? I thought that was odd but it is what it is I guess.

I got one of their koal keepers and they've been sending them ever since. Btw, the koal keeper is nice but the handle is too short-- when handling hot coals your hand bakes!
