They are saying 4"-7" from tonight till tomorrow night. And temps at night near zero (below 0° with wind chill) I say bring it!!
I'm with ya brother! Finally will get to open the stoves up a little and "stretch their legs"!! There only calling for around 5" total over the next couple days....the cold is the biggie with this storm.
Tues shows a high of -6°. For Ohio, that's Cold!!!! I'm with ya Scotty. I've never had to turn the Pellet furnace up over its mid point. Still chugging on level 2 of 5 and the whole house is 73°. Wood eater keeps it a little warmer than that in the basement (75°-77°). Finally, a decent winter for us. I love it!!
They are saying -13° for here on Monday night. Wifey and I may have to get the kids and sack out in the living room by the fireplace for that night!!
From Sunday night to Wednesday AM we're not supposed to get much above 0...some forecasts saying below 0 the whole time. My stove won't be able to keep up and I'm going to have to light the propane pig.
No mention of your stove in your signature! So what ya burning and what wood are you burning? Stay warm!
Earlier I went outside with an insurance adjuster. He is from Texas. He had me hold a tape measure and he took a pic to send to his wife. He was astonished at the rate it was falling. We had just over 8" and that was 2 hrs ago. Still falling fast.
I have an old blaze king smoke monster...and I'm burning hedge and black locust. It cranks heat like nobody's business...but I'm trying to heat 3400 sq ft from the basement so its not the stove or the wood's fault.
Man that's a huge space to heat with one stove from the main floor nevermind the basement! Being in Indiana I would think it gets very cold too! Why not locate the stove in the livingroom where it would be far more effective?
The stove was already in the basement when I moved here. I know it would be much more effective at heating the main floor if it was up there, but we use the basement as much as the upstairs, so I could either run two stoves or just the one in the basement. It was -9 when I got up the AM (only supposed to get down to 1) and the stove kept up fine. There are only a couple days a year that we get below 0. Someday I'm going to install a boiler and hook it up to my baseboard hot water radiators so I'm not real interested in spending any $ on moving the stove upstairs. This stove is WAY too big to put in my living room anyway.
I'm impressed that it can keep up with those temps and that large of a home! You must be very well insulated..
Its not that big..the 3400 includes the basement. I ran it harder last night than I ever have before and it almost ate a whole load of hedge. Normally that load would last almost 24 hours but it was on pace to be gone in 16 when I checked it this morning. Insulation isn't bad...but its not good either.
