Holy crap it is -10 on my back porch already tonight. Boiler is running and trying to catch up after the kids took showers and the heat demand on the house is pretty steady. Cookin through some White Ash and Cherry. What's your temps tonight?
A balmy 23 where I'm sitting - stove is rolling with its overnight load of cherry (80%) and a little locust (20%).
15 here... loading tonight with junk wood before taking the ashes out tomorrow morning. Sumac, buckthorn, and some boxelder. Yes, I burn sumac haha. House is 73 degrees.
26º right now, most likely load up with some cherry and maple tonight. Forecast is for around 20º tonight and that's the high for tomorrow. Then down to single digits with some snow moving in. Just stacked and covered a small pile of old barkless locust right outside the door.
Man, that must be a nice feeling. Old barkless locust outside the door. Some of these guys on here will be counting these splits in their sleep tonight. That is nice of you L.P. You just help put some of those guys with access to Locust to sleep tonight.
Boiler filled a little before 10. Empty a little before 5. That is some heat demand right there. -14 below on the back porch with some wind. Weather channel says it "feels like" -30 here right now with the wind.
How does it feel being at -40 with the wind chill? I just talked with a guy down at the store, 4 people had there tires go flat because of the cold. I'm thinking the tire air pressure was low to start.
If you are dressed for it the windchill doesn't seem to matter much. Once you hit -10 it's just cold.
Wind Chill factor - 36, we might have another storm coming in on Saturday. http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/cold-snow-detroit-chicago-clev/21623238 Ash & Beech going in the wood stove, just going down to turn the pellet stove on.
23 degrees right now and headed to 7 tonight. The high on Monday is forecasted at 9 degrees with a low of -12.
Burn some of the good stuff. I've been saying that I'll cover another stack of Beech & Sugar Maple, that will happen on Saturday.
Woodlands, We drove to the Norwood Hobby Shop today. My son wanted something nice from there so he got some cash for Christmas. I made all the kids take their snow clothes with them. I always make them take their hats and mittens, but this is really cold weather. We almost didn't go because of it. But he had his mind and heart set on it. A nice new RC Plane came home with us. A Cessna 182 Skylane. He had to kick in some of his birthday present for that one!
