I went down to a property I hunt yesterday that is about 45 minutes away. The owner had told me that they were widening the gas right away for another pipe line to come through and had dropped quite a few trees. He said I could cut if I wanted but I had told him I hated to drive that far for firewood. I was up and down the right away several times as I was trying to push a deer out to a good friend since I had shot a buck on Monday. Man there was some nice trees down, noticed several red oaks, cherries and ash. He burns a little but he has so many irons in the fire that he doesn't cut for himself....I take him a big load every year just to show my gratitude and then he buys some. It's against my better judgement to go that far but just maybe when I run his load down I just might have to bring one back.....lol.....I think I need some counseling...
LP, I think bring a load back when you deliver one sounds like a pretty good plan to me... If you had a trailer you could borrow, sounds like an even better plan.... And that's some fine FHC counseling for you right there...
45 minutes is a long way to go for wood. I'd get it if I was going there anyway, like you said delivering wood or if you had something else to do in the area. But I agree it'd be hard to turn down!

I agree with the FHC crew, since your already there might as well bring back the oak and ash just like Backwoods said...

Yep, especially if your taking a load down there. I'd be bringing me back some home. Its not like its out of the way...
Wonder if the ole girl of mine would make it.. What I would do for oak,ash,or even cherry. Go get it. Maybe I could fly in to help are oak splits/rounds considered carry on's?
Locust Post it would be inefficient to come back with an empty truck when you are there anyway! Besides, you owe it to all of us to go get it... Jim
I believe you would..... Maybe go by airplane tho- your arms would be too tired to hold a saw after flying that long
I have the same issue. I solved it by buying a 20 ft landscape trailer. I fill the truck and trailer as full as I dare, which cuts down on the number of trips ....
