Still running on/off but I expect to be changing it any day now. I set back while we are at work but no longer set back at night

Does anyone else do a quick vac of the firepot and clean the glass daily like me ? I find with the HD pellets they're a few clinkers I want to remove so why not do a quick clean . I'll be digging into the top shelf pellets soon.

Besides putting pellets in the hopper, I haven't touched mine since October 1st! :emb:

Last February we had to decide on what our new stove choice would be. The wifey loved the Harman XXV but also wanted a larger hopper. I loved the Osborn 5000 multi fuel, but wanted a larger hopper. So, we ended up getting the Osborn 7000, as there are few affordable choices for fuel here. It's oversized, utilitarian and it had a large hopper (120#'s), boy does it pump out the heat if you want to kick it up.

I was currently in another thread perusing the topic and a issue about pellets came up. I was searching the subject and found this thread. Todays project was trying to cut down the ash flying about from the most affordable pellet for us: the Maeders. I had incrementally set the combustion fan back eventually reaching -5. I'm going to run that for a bit and see if it sustains itself. There seems to be less fly ash so far.

Be careful you don't overdo the "cut-down" on the burn air.....it's supposed to blow most of the burned ash out of the pot.....all that's supposed to be in there are burning or new pellets and a small amount of ash.

On the subject of pellets it seems that LaCrete will give you the highest quality for around 6 $ a bag , they burn very clean and hot .

Firing up the T5 tonight (I know, not a pellet stove) with a quick and hot load of tulip poplar. It's currently 62*F inside and only 46*F tonight. Forecast is, it we won't get any lower overnight. Just put some wood in the stove to get some heat stored in the house over night. We shouldn't have to burn again until tomorrow night.:D

Agreed, but you have to have a base line to start the test period, and the Osborn has a shelf as opposed to a pot. I worked my down to it and so far its holding it's own. I believe that the windy day issue will overwhelm this setting. So far if I had anything negative to say it's the flame near the edges are starting to look wispy. I considered kicking it up a notch this morning, waiting for some back pressure from the outside winds.

From Alberta? Who carries them that might be somewhat local...along the St Lawrence River, NY? I can't get LG's which we love for an affordable price. Delivery or pick up only adds to the $55 dollar difference in price per ton. The dealer wants $30 per ton delivery. :faint:

I'm not sure what stove dealer/ pellets are in your area you'll have to do some Google searching but mainly your looking for a softwood pellet .
