Hopefully i dont regret this... paid 300$ for a clean 044... just sold for 550$... plan to get a 562xp to go with my 550xp. I understand its down on power but it will ride with a 24" full time as i like the extra reach. Next year they both go off for port work. The 562xp with 24 " and 2 chains will come out to 75$ out of pocket. I have a really really good deal on a brand new one...i have always wanted the 562 xp and either way i was going to get one eventually. My next plan is a 390xp when funds permitt. Always had a nagging thought that a 550xp 18" and 562xp 24" just make for a nasty firewood combo even if its not the typical 50/70 combo damm google searches... now im looking at 461/372.....
Few guys running a 24 on the 562. It should do fine. Still breaking mine in (About 1.5 tanks through it) It pulls a 20 like an angry beast! It ain't gonna win no race but its going to beat lugging around a 15+ lb saw for a few cuts. I plan on getting a 24 for when I need it or if I end up cutting from a pile if/when I order a truck load.
That 044 was clean and strong..... hardly run... thats my regret right now. But theres so many saws i want for permanent and try and a 562 is sometbing that has always poked me when i walk in the dealer
I also want a 562, its a bug that grows on you i have a 550xp and just love it, i cut up a couple pines that were 26 dbh with it and sure its no 372 but wow a lot easier on a guys body. I think a ported 562 would be an awsome firewood saw.
Although 28 would be rare on it... i cant get past the videos of a 562xp pulling 28. I mean theres a couple oak vids buried. Rpms are up cut is smooth and quick seems to plenty of oil on the bar. Yet you get so many that claim it cant pull 28...
Alot of dealers in oregon sell 562xp with a 28 bar, and skip chain. In softwoods it probly works well, ive seen one of the oak vids also and it looked strong.
It will. I've run one with a 28" and skip chain. Saw had a muffler mod but no other mods. Ported it should do just fine.
Waiting on a reply for tlandrum on a ported 562xp... its between the 562 and a 365 ported.. what about those two? Which to choose
044 was the lightest 70cc saw out there. You may lose a lb to the 562. If you want to run a 562 with a 28 get a light weight bar so it won't be so nose heavy.
You did well on the flip - good work - I do the same all the time - flip and make a little cash to put toward the next saw I really want. Love my 372 - wouldn't be without it - if I had to sell all my saws but two, I'd keep the 372 and probably my Dolly 510. Cheers!
I once had an itch for a 562XP. I scratched it and have been very happy. Currently running a 20" sugi bar, but wouldn't mind having a 24 for occasional bigger stuff.
Choosing between the 562 or the 365, I would grab the 365 all day. Only thing better than that is the 044 you just sold lol.
