One of my ex-girlfriends that I am still friends with today on Facebook posted a song that took me back. Right now I'm on Youtube going down memory lane. Feel free to add your memories from that timeframe. Though I love all kinds of music. My favorite is country. However; alternative holds a special place in my heart as it was the first style of music I gravitated to.

    Happy Thanksgiving..

Must of been in the air, I was on youtube watching MTV videos from way back when they actually played music videos! They took me back to 1985 sitting in a rec room on Saturdays during medical training at Ft. Sam Houston watching them instead of getting drunk at the enlisted club! LOL.

Seems to me when people refer to the times of old they categorise music by the decades, the 70s the 60s and so on till it comes to the 80s,then its like the early 80s as if there was a dynamic shift around 85 or so. Coming of age in the 70s I favor rush, zepplin, aerowsmith,Bob Seager and the likes. What wood the world be without the poetry of music or a good wood fire?

Love Zeppelin and Bob Seagar. I'm all over the board.

You are right about the 80's. Clearly rock owned the 60's, 70's and part of the 80's. Though for me the 80's are also defined by Alternative. Yes it started in the 70's with bands like the Kink's, but really surged in the 80's and became mainstream in the 90's. None of the music I listened to in the 80's was played on mainstream radio stations. That all changed in the 90's.
