Just took the bike in for storage yesterday morning. Was a cool 34* when I left the house, but not so cold that I need my helmet on the 30 mile ride. It was a sad day from which I won't recover until sometime in March :(

It took a while to get through all of the posts on this thread, plus looking ever so close at all the bike, and then now I got to see a regular sized image of your old and newer bikes. Sweet!

So what made you go with the 2011 over the 2006? Engine size? The sixth gear? Better frame? Did the 2011 come with the hard lowers of did you add those? Is that the same recurve on both bikes? And, is that an aftermarket seat or stock? Sorry about all the questions, I'm just curious.

Sweet looking bikes! One of these days I'll post a picture of my itty bitty. I don't have any current pictures and since I have made a few changes over the last year, I won't post those.

I wasn't actively looking for a new bike, but always sit on them when I go to a Harley store (fairly often). the 2011 just "felt right" (as the 2006 did when I sat on it in 2010 - I had literally sat on 100's of bikes in the previous couple of months before that looking for an HD to buy). I had coveted the extra gear and gas anyway as my ex had a 2008 ElectraGlide so I knew what they could do for rider. The frame didn't matter to me at all and neither did the engine size. Although, I won't lie, it is nice to have the 103.

The 2006 came with a Road King seat - very comfy on long rides and that is what is in the picture (ugly as sin when the bike wasn't loaded with luggage). It also had the benefit of a very narrow nose, giving the effect of decreasing the leg reach needed to the ground. The 2011 still sports a stock seat although I had the nose shaved down a bit to increase leg reach. It is alright for comfort but before I go on my next long outing, I will need to get something different - especially if it a multi-day ride.

The 2011 (which I just bought last fall), came with the lowers but it must have cost the original owner a pretty penny to special order them and have them color-matched.

The windshield is a Klockwerks 6" screen. I originally bought it for the 2006 and transferred it to the 2011.

We definitely need pics of your ride Star Gazer!

Love bike week. I have a BIL that lets me use his beautiful camp at Ossipee and I spend the week up there each year. I ride up there a lot too. "Loop the Lake" is a fun ride for me. I'm friends with one of the owners at Thurstons Marina (on the bridge) so we ride a lot up there. I love VT, Western Ma and CT too. It's all good! :D

I remember that! My wife and daughter were trying to get home in that with very worn summer tires:hair:.

Bring it on, if I can't ride I'd rather we had some winter beauty.

Love the Orange BMW. Looks like it has a lot of suspension travel. Pavement or dirt......take your pick !

Nice to see another FJR here.

FYI Nevada is my favorite place to ride....

    It's a cobalt blue '06 FJR.

I toured Nevada in '05, '07, '10, '11, and '13. I stayed away from large towns and spent all my time in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah, it's real easy to find road's out here that aren't traveled much. I live real near some of the best roads in the Sierra mountains. I've been through a lot of motorcycles and I believe the FJR is one of the finest....... I sure wouldn't turn down a test ride on a BMW S1000RR..... Hey ride safe! ATGATT!
