Happy New Year everyone!!

Happy New Year! Fire going....snow falling, what a way to start the year!

 

I'm making yet another attempt at quitting smoking. Made it about 10 hours and counting.

Spent the evening with my little lady ringing in the new year properly.

Skipped the party, thus skipping the hang over. Feel good today. Trying to decide between cleaning the garage and messing with the quakes, cleaning the house, or murdering a couple big apple trees at mom and dad's. Probably do all three...with the house cleaning as the low priority.

Holy crap it's a new year. This means I have to cut more Wood if I want to be 3 years ahead.

about the upcoming year, it definitely looks promising!

 

if you guys can hang on and stay away from them you will definitely enjoy the results. I have had so many people in my life that recently were affected by the smokes, that I'm happy to say that today they are still around and are healthier for it. Theres no way around it, they do affect your health eventually. Keep up the good work!

Pyro. I smoked for 20 years. 17-37. I have not had even a drag from one in 8+ years. After I quit I started working out a little more, walking a lot more. In the woods and through the streets in town(usually at night). Then gradually turned that into walking and running. Then started running every other day. Eventually ran a half marathon about 1 1/4 years later. And have run that 1/2 marathon every year but one since then in September. You can do it. Stick with it. I tried many, many times to quit. Cold Turkey every time. Never go back. Stay away from those who smoke if you have to. If you drink, don't drink around those who smoke for a while. Stick with it man. You can do it. And you will feel so much better. Do it for yourself, your significant other, your kids or other family members. Did I say you CAN do it?!

 

New Years morning. The temp outside is -23.7 right now. A beautiful sunny day. About to take on a breakfast feed of Sourdough French Toast and smoked bacon. Just sitting around drinking coffee, watching "Lil Brother" devouring 3 yo Red Oak, waiting for a day of football. Don't get no better than this. To all FHC members have a happy and prosperous 2014for you and yours.

 

My resolution.....Hoard more, hoard more, and hoard more wood!....

 

Happy 2014... Plans for today, clear driveway then put a new blower motor resistor in the wife's Jeep! Then I will jump back on the Busch Light Horse and ride into the sunset!!

My New Years resolution: Not to allow my house to go cold again.
I ordered my generator, two batter powered back up packs, and a harness for connecting my bipap machine to a deep cell battery. Not being able to lie down because I can't stay breathing laying down without my machine powered up just sucked. Rarely get ice storms, but when we do, they are responsible for our prolonged power outages.
I hate spending the money on "ifs", but if it were some one else, I would tell them they need to accept the reality of winter and be proactive. Not a resolution, but a goal, is to beef up the house heating with either a second stove, or a larger stove. Wife isn't fond of either of those, but she hasn't come up with another affordable option.

 

Happy New year to all you fine folks that share my wood gathering illness.
My first resolution for the short term is to peel a few pounds and my wife shares that as well. I had her clear out all the Christmas cookies and I'll be doing without bread or buns and increasing the salads. If I show up at the May get together with floppy ears you will know I had too many salads. Work outs starting also. I have usually cut quite a bit of wood by now and I can tell the difference.
