I am looking for a log splitter for my personal use.
Menards is having a Black Friday Sale on the Forest King 30 Ton Log Splitter for $ 799.00
Tractor Supply shows the same make & model for $ 2299.99
I haven't been able to find many reviews of info regarding these.
Does anyone have any personal experience with these?

    Thanks,

A 30 ton splitter for $800 seems cheap. Sure there's not a typo or something?

I could see $1800. Looks like your standard Speeco design to me. I would camp out in the parking lot if the $800 price is true.

Forest King's are pretty dang good splitters.

I had the 22t model for about 3 years and never once had a single issue with it.
They are decently quick as well on the stroke time.

The problem today with most of these store bought splitters, other then swishers or other more expensive models, is the HP rating.
They simply dont have enough power in reality.

They have about the bare minimum.
I bought a brand new Black Diamond brand splitter, 30T, and it has a little 6.5hp kohler on it.
If it werent for the 2 stage pump, the thing would be useless.
Im just waiting on it to die and then i'll replace it with something 10+ hp sized.

Just saw the 22 ton for $799, at Menards, this afternoon. Not versed enough to say how much it matters, but it looked as if it had a single stage pump. Was still tempting, at that price.

That's good you have had good results with yours. It seems like Menard's puts this unit on sale for this price every black Friday. We thought about picking one up, but I didn't based on reviews. That said, any shortfalls in the design ( no filter iirc) or quality ( faulty couplings, cheap hoses) can be fixed.

No flippin' way can they get 22 ton from a 200cc engine on a single state pump. The cycle time on the unit would be rediculously long if that were the case.
