that storm hit us last Tuesday, county still has over 8K people without power (down from the 100K on wed morning). we were lucky and only lost it for 13 hours
immrbill Do you have power yet? We are still dark, with Inland Power (not implying anything negative about Inland Power). Greg
Yep, 3rd multiple-day outage in less than 2 years, so we are good at this now About a month ago I setup a transfer switch so that I could run the whole house on the generator, and the wife wondered why I bothered, when we could just run cords like we did before - now she's on board. It works great, and can run the lights, fridge freezer, water heater, and water pump at the same time. Hot showers! The only thing it lacks in its current configuration is it cannot run the well pump. No problem so far, as we have a 1000 gal cistern, and we still have 650 gal remaining after 4 days. In another 4-5 days, I will have to figure out how to run the well, or we will be out. Hopefully the power will be on before then. Greg
Well that's great, you got a good set up there then. One time when power was out here I was running cords with a generator, I had to rewire the pump motor to,110 to run it, kind of a pain, had to rewire it back to 220 when power came on, but I had water
Just now looked at Inland Power's web site, and they say the "majority" of their clients will be on by tomorrow (Sunday) evening, and everyone else by Tuesday or Wednesday. Here's hoping ... Greg
Now they are saying "by the end of the week." The public schools are shut down, because they figure it is not safe for kids to walk to school with many power lines down. Perhaps overkill. Still smiling about the woodstove and the generator. Greg
Well as long as you have wood and fuel for the Jenny I guess you're OK, probably be nice to get back to normal though
Got power back here in Whitman County. Avista did a good job. My generator ran flawlessly. Today it snowed. Will be in Vegas all next week. At least it'll be warmer.
