Tomorrow I am gonna weld the two halves of my log lift together for the splitter. We have the day off so its perfect timing to do it. It will be butt cold with a chance of more butt cold so now that the doors have insulation ( however redneck ) I can heat it up to the 50's pretty easy. It's gonna be fun.

Here is a teaser! It will be mounted on the right side using a 2000lb winch to lift it.

What are you doing for the day off?

I have a little lincoln 140, and I use just the flux. It works pretty good if you take your time and really sink it in. I'm pretty sure you can hook gas to it if you want, I just don't do a lot of welding so the flux is fine.

That's the issue I have with flux most of the time. I need to go a little slower on the speed and a tad higher heat so it penetrates deeper. If you do that it's as strong as anything.

If you get a 100 lb tank, how will you get it filled? What you don't need is some one hooking you up with delivery fees etc. When I changed oil companies for the cleaning service. I "had" to create an account. They did a credit check. I didn't want or ask for anything for charges, but they insisted. Very annoying. If you pay cash, why do they need an account?

That is close by. That tank filled is about 170 lbs. not too bad if strapped to a hand truck.
