Ash is around here but it's here and there, it sounds like it is far more common in the Midwest and down south. I hardly ever get any and there is none in my woods, a few in town.
It's funny a couple of the woods I cut in for years at the farm I cut at most had almost no ash. Farmer bought the farm that bordered to the east and the woods are filled with ash. No EAB in my direct area but has been found as close as 30 miles away so may well arrive at some point. Ash has become one of my favorites....I love the way it off gasses in the cat stove.
HarvestMan, I believe there are a lot of ash around Ann Arbor and some south of there so surprised you don't have any.
Sweet, but surprised you are using the saw like that on ash. A couple swings and those should break apart nicely. Saves a lot of wear and tear on the saw and chain plus gets the job done sooner with less mess.
Nice work HD... Gotta love how those fresh splits look. Looks like maybe a little more than a half cord..? Next week, I should have some time to cut, split and stack a little more myself... Thanks for motivating me.
