Does that saw have the red master control switch? I really doubt that 039 will beat that saw. The 036 is 62 cc closed port and the 039 us 64 cc open port. Huge difference. Stock for stock.. That 039 will have its lunch money stolen. :)

While Jeremy can build a mean saw out of this series? I don't think the 440 would ever hide from the 390.

I just tuned a muff mod MS 390 for a member on AS that lived close to me. That saw ran good, but took about 13 seconds to cut through my 10" Cant. My 460 was about 2. Granted my 460 is ported, but my last 440 (Arctic) wasn't very far behind my 460 with the dual piped muff mod.

To be honest I meant to type 360. I noticed that today. Bit we can only edit here for a few hours. So I could not change it.

The comparison was a modified 390 against a stock 036. I have two 036's that are in very nice shape but frankly they are dogs until I at least did a muffler mod to them. I am not saying that the 036 or MS 360's are not good saws, it is just that they really wake up with some simple mods is all.

The 036s have a more choked up muffler than the 034s.

I think the outlet is about the size of a dime.

On an 1127 there is two holes under the deflector that are about 3/16"

Not that I know of. Both the exhaust and intake sides of the piston look real good though.

All this talk of porting an open port saw has me thinking about the Dolmar 6400. Has anyone fooled with one of these yet? I thought Mastermind was toying with the idea a couple years ago, but wasn't sure.

Dang, I hate it when bullies steal my lunch money! What does the red switch designate ....................... my 036 (modded to a "Pro" except the decomp) has the red switch.

I don't care for the flimsy red switch. I think the air filter setup is different than the newer 036/036 pros too. Mine has the adjustable oiler though. I'll take a picture of the switch in a sec.
