I usually get grapple loads every two years, I work the log pile and am usually at least 2 years ahead. Today I had to sit down after getting a call from one of my framing buddies. He asked me if I could take the wood from a lot he was having cleared for a new house starting next week. I took a drive by this afternoon ( I should have taken pics) and it's a retreat lot about 150' back from the road. The best I could count was about 26 trees to be taken down. He has a tree guy coming in and he didn't want the logs. The timing worked too, I don't have any construction work until the 6th, so I can play all next week with the saws. The poor truck will disown me after this. Pics to follow
Should be several years supply Be fun & great exercise getting it all CSS. Bet the whole process will make great pictures Any idea of the wood types ?
On my driveby I was able to see a small birch stand and some random beech, not quite sure of the rest yet.
The tree crew worked the site and chipped today. Looks like I can get in there on Thursday and start bucking. Saw some beech, red and white oak and birch so far.
yes, and they are piles of fun that guys like us like to play in. Bad part for me is, it's only supposed to be in the low teens on thursday here.
Good side: Ground frozen, easy to drive close, no bugs, You will be down to 2 shirt layers in no time
I was thinking the same thing, if I'm moving and working at a good clip I will probably be ok with the cold.
That's great Oslo, the only thing better is if you could split it all there too. I have a similar lot I've been working out of for about 6-7 years now. It is great fun to be able to pull right up to your work, load and haul or split load and haul. Nice looking trees.
