I figured I would get a little something done before the snow flies here. Split and stacked it, went ahead and covered it up too, gotta love the ash,
Are they dry HD? Ash is one of my favs when it comes to same year burning and the decent heat and burn times it gives. Nice looking stacks you have there
Thanks I won't be using that ash this year, it checks out to around 25%,, already burned some of the limbs from that tree though.
HDRock , do you cut that ash on your property or buy it somewhere? You are just up the road from me, but I've never seen ash around here. I see a bunch of firewood sellers on CL in the Flint area that have a lot of ash.
There is still a few smaller ash around here that I will be taking down, I had 3 on my property the other ones are not actually on my property, they're on the neighbors property and county property. The ash I split up today was from a tree close to the house that I had a pro drop into the Woods, still have some big rounds to split from it.
EAB is just getting to northern New England, but we're not optimistic. We have firewood quarantines in effect by counties. And no out of state wood can be brought in.
NH, we had those same restrictions as recently as a month ago but it failed completely so now there are no restrictions about moving ash within the state. Interstate is not a state law issue but a federal restriction.
Ash is all I cut now. Once they're all cut they will be in my stacks for years. I don't think I'll live long enough to cut and burn all the ash I have access to.
Good stuff! We did a big ash removal a few weeks back, got rid of all that wood. Two more nice sized ones from that same location, coming down as soon as the cold sets in, there's a beehive in one of them.......
It would kill me to not take those home. Do the homeowners use firewood? If they do, do you process it for them?
I like a nice ASH! Unfortunately the EAB has devastated my Ash trees. They are dead or dying! We tried the quarantining here in Ohio, but it didn't do a thing. Enjoy them while you can, you may have a lot more of them as Firewood in the future!
