I'm really tempted to pick up a CS-590, with the 25% off coupon Zoro is offering today it comes down to about $325 which seems really cheep for the saw. However, I am debating if the saw is really big enough to be the right addition to my collection. Right now I have two ~50cc saws (my 346 is the 46 version) is 60 enough of a step up?

I could see getting rid of the 350 and keeping just the 346 and the 590 but I'm still pondering. I'd like to get the brush cutter attachment for my string trimmer regardless but I'm trying to mark a smart choice here. What say you all?

Pallet Pete likes his 590. I have the 330 top handle that is a great little saw. Knock on wood never had any problems with any of my echo products.

My other thought was a tiny top handle saw like the CS-271, but I'm not sure if I really need a smaller saw I've never used a top handle like that. My father has cut 95% of his wood over the past 5 years or so with a CS-440 that someone was sending to the trash pile, he cleaned the carb and has been great ever since so I'm pretty sol on Echo making a decent product.

Not often but yes there are some big ones out there. We cut an oak that was pushing 36" at the stump last year (not my saws) but I would say most of what we cut is on the smaller side. Theoretically I can cut up stuff that is bidder with the small saws if I cut both sides, it just takes longer.

Well, the two sides thing is kinda a hassle, in book at least. More time on the saw, more time maneuvering around the tree w/ the saw... Less time loading and getting outa there.
Guess what I'm getting at is whether or not stopping right at 60cc is worth it for ya? Maybe not quite full blown 70cc, but somewhere in da middle, to really cover needs and then some? CMD?

Don't get me wrong- for the price, that's pretty frikkin sweet... If that machine couldn't walk the dog with a 20" bar all day, I don't know what could:yes:

I think that is exactly the conclusion I'm coming to as well, I'm not sure 60cc is a big enough step up, if I am going to get a "big" saw I should probably wait and get something closer to the 70cc range than just make an impulse buy on this one. If I didn't already have the other saws it would be a no brainer imo, but for me I think it's better to find something that is more of a real step up if I'm going for a bigger saw. It's still a screaming deal IMO.

No doubt! A deal a real CAD sufferer couldn't... shouldn't pass up, but you being of sound mind and able to scratch the itchy trigger finger, will make the best decision for you:yes::whistle:
I personally went with the an old school used 266se(which you can see is struck thru in my sig line), and then also the 576xp.... For the big bucking and felling needs, the 576- wearing it's choice of 24" & 28" bars covers a multitude of needs.... But certainly too much saw to tote around beyond that.

I own an Echo CS 680 (in that size range). It is a 66.7cc saw. I almost bought a Timberwolf but I wanted something a little bigger going from my Stihl Farm Boss (56cc) I was trading in.

Then I later bought a CS 361P for a lighter work saw for limbing and small diameter stuff. The more I use it I am realizing now that the 361P is best for about 8" or less in the hardwood. Pine is fine as long as the bar is long enough. But for the hardwood, after about 8" diameter I don't want to wait to get through it any longer. it's time to go to the 680! :saw:

I can't help your decision any but my thought process is to use the smallest saw for the job. With that said most 60cc saws will cut over the abilities of most average users.
I also think a 50cc saw does a ton of work and is a very favorable size.
For two saws in hard wood I like a 40cc ish and a 60cc
A solid 50 and 60 may not be a big enough gap to justify spending your money.

I paid $399 for mine. This is a good deal! I think this is an "all around" great saw. Of course you're going to run into the bigger trees, but I guess it's up to the individual to determine exactly how often this is, and if it's worth the extra size, weight, and money of a quality larger one. if you're not a saw collector, I would play the "averages" game and get the right one for you. If it's in the 60cc range, I will say this ones hard to beat at $325 new.

Love mine too. No complaints. After the warranty is up and I free it from it's EPA constraints, I will love it more !

Do they have a similar coupon for an 80cc saw? If so, I would be in.
