I can remember when Bear was 6 months old and we had him de-nutted. That collar lasted about a hour the first night. Woke up to find it in about 6 pieces................................

Let the 4 dogs out into the back yard about 11:30 last night. Went to let them in about 5 minutes later...only 3. Flicka our Westy must have decided to chase something out of the yard and pushed her way through a gap in the fence.

My bride and I got dressed and grabbed the flashlights...nothing. Gone.

I went out the front again to search some more, opened up the door and low and behold here she comes trotting up to the door like nothing happened.

Midnight repair to the fence took place.

    Lil chit! :)

Her eyes don't looked all doped up like the earlier pictures. She must be recovering well. Getting all that anesthesia how of her system takes a while. Does she seem oriented?

I've gone out after mine so many times! You did the right thing.
I have one that will go out and sit in the snow. He won't move until I am staring him in his face. Not looking forward to that again this winter, but it is just one of the things we do for our pets. I thought he might have a hearing problem, but when I open a bag of doggie snacks, he is quick to come in from another room just from the crackling sound of the bag.

Yes, she's oriented. Only after an hour of the pain meds does she get tired. savemoney, when do you figure the anesthesia will be completely out? Thx

It is out by now, it is the effects that linger on. She looks like she is there now. It is about 4 or 5 days on average from my experience with people who have really deep anesthesia. My Molly was about that length of time. She is young, resilient, it good health to start with, and she is getting excellent care. At the end of week two, you will have this all behind you.

Got up into the teens so I took my two snow dogs for a walk, Flicka and Doug.

They were predicting 6"-8" and from our walk they were right. :)

Doing my run yesterday for medical appointments, and low and behold I came around the curve on a fairly busy county road and I see a really fine looking chocolate lab running down the middle of the road. When he saw my van he started right for it. Although I had a client on board, I stopped. The dog, an adult male, was very happy (typical lab) and very friendly. Fortunately he was wearing a collar with I.D.. His name was Boston and there was a phone# on it. Gave the number a call and the owner didn't even know he was MIA. Said his wife would come to the location in a few minutes. When I opened the drivers side door, he immediately hopped in and sat behind the wheel like he owned the van. Figured that was a good place for him as I had no leash or rope. My client, a mentally challenged lad of about 21 was happy and excited and spent the whole time petting and fussing over Boston the whole time he was in the van. After about 10 minutes the female owner pulled up and came to retrieve him. Said he was a big knuckle head who often pulls these stunts. So away he went and I figured I'd carry on with my run. What I didn't realize was the whole time Boston was sitting in my seat being fussed over by my client, happy as a pig in chit, he was also pi$$ing all over my seat. If that isn't gratitude, I don't know what is..................Dang glad I had a spare blanket to throw on the seat.
Van goes to get cleaned Monday morning. Feel good about the whole thing, but what they say about male Labs is so true. "What they can't eat or hump or roll in, they surely pi$$ on........................ :rofl:

You did good by the dog and by your client. Sorry about the wet seat.
